Straight to the point. I have a pair of APC seats that i need to install on my 1990 240sx. The problem is the brackets do not come close to lining up with the stock holes. I am not sure what i should do. This has not been posted in any previous forums for a s13. Any help, ANY would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing you need a custom rail kit.

The rail is allready attached to the seat and doesn't look removable...I'm thinking about jus taking it to a shop?

I think you are confusing the universal slider that is attached to the seat...you'll still need a rail made for it.

I got them for 170 each, the logo is just some cheesey sticker so I didn't put it on. I'm pretty sure the rail is included but you can take a look at the picture and let me know. The seats are real comfortable and give good lumbar support, I havent really had a chance to take any turns hard in the seats umm cause theyre not in :(. But yeah, Thank you all for the feedback keep it coming

I tried to mount those exact seats in my 1990 and actually got custom mounts for it and it still did not work. The stock mounting surface is tilted with the front much higher than the rear of the seat. And the seat itself is higher on the front. Once the custom mounts are on then the seat on the mount, the total combined effect of the mounting surface's and the seats' front height puts the front of the seat (as in your knees), so high that it cannot be used at all.

If you take your stock seats out and the carpet out, you'll see that the front mounting surface of the seats are on a metal bar that is welded into the floor at the ends/ sides of the seat. I thought about cutting those out but just gave up and sold the seats for fear of somehow weakening the overall structure of the floor. Mainly, I just wanted to get the seats in by using the stock mounting bolts. Finally, I just got the stock seats re-covered.

My custom mounting may work with a race seat that is flat and not raised at the front, since the floor would provide the lift at the front. I still have it if you are interested. Please email [email protected].

Do you have a problem with APC products or just the seats?

I've just bought racing seats also (Megan Racing). The problem with APC seats, as well as other lesser known brands is the brackets, which I found out only after buying my seats.

Even though you can get a good deal on seats like those, you have to always make sure they have custom brackets that are made specifically for your car.

I had a hell of a time finding brackets for my car that had the hole dimensions Megan Racing used. I finally caved in and just special ordered Sparco brackets and hope they don't have the tilting problem niznos has.

The only brackets that even have a chance of fitting are sparcos. From there, you probably have to drill holes into it and "hope" it doesn't tilt with those seats.

The only other way to go is custom, however, even in custom jobs, you have to really be able to phsyically meet with these guys doing the fabrication, otherwise, they are just "guessing" off your measurments of the mounting holes, which leads to the same problems.

The amount of money you are going to spend in labor and parts for mounting your seats is probably going to end up being at least 300-400.

Putting this into account, the total cost of your seats, installed and all, is almost the same as getting a pair of sparcos, recaros, tenzos, or whatever with brackets that fit in the first place - unless you can do your own welding/cutting/drilling.

You get what you pay for, and I'm learning the hard way; problem is, I never learn and keep buying stuff thinking I'm getting a "deal." haha.

if you want a good quality seat that is not too bad in price look at the corbeau stuff, I have a pair of Targa RS in my garage waiting to go in, they are really good quality and I paid 360 each, that really isnt too bad when my next choice was sparco torino and those are like 600-700 each. I got 2 seats 2 brackets and 2 4 point harnesses for just over 900 bux. not bad.

I have heard that some seats in the US are made by other companies in the US. I think the tenzo's are made by Bride and so on and so forth. Can someone with insider info verify this please?

Positive to say about APC, hmmmm. nope. APC simply looks at how to make high-selling products super cheap. The tradeoff? quality. You get what you pay for, thats especially true in this industry. The seat is your cradle in the car, in the good times and in the bad (accidents). You had better make sure that it is up to the task, when your life is on the line.Getting the positioning of the seat correct is very critical, otherwise you will find yourself in an awkward position slapping yourself for throwing away your old seats. Tilt, height, and side-to-side placement are all critical. Seats are a *****. I usually make my own brackets because factory bought ones never put it it at the right tilt, or distance from the steering wheel. Sparco and others get their brackets from a company called Wedge designs, Sparco does not make the brackets. So if your seat doesnt fit right with the sparco-supplied brackets, then it probablt wont fit with momo-supplied brackets.Did I mention seats are a *****? Good luck!-AaronGot my sparco fighters new for $500/set! (its not what you know, its who ya know)

I recently put the Corbreau CR1 in my '93 fastback. I am more than pleased with the quality of these seats. The one thing that I did find with almost any aftermarket seat is that the base profile is too thick. After me seats were installed I sat way too high in the car, it was very uncomfortable. Fortuantely I was doing business with a very reputable dealer, Superior Auto Trim in Bellevue, WA. With a little custom work to my seat, it felt like a glove. Cornering has greatly improved, as I am almost literally attached to the car.

I think sparcos are overrated... dont get me wrong I love the way they feel but seriously... why so expensive. there are plenty of other seats out there that offer great quality on a budget. Like the JIC magic seats, Corbeau make a great seat and Cobra seats are very well made as well. Even tenzo makes a good seat, but the color fades quickly, but the seat is made well.

you guys are funny. Sparcos more than other seats? here do some homework. go on google and search for Recardo, Bride, or anyother GOOD seat producer. Bride is crazy expensive and so is Recardo...and with Recardo you get their crappier fabrics as opposed to what you get in Europe and Japan. seriously...apc can suck my left nut. spend the money and get seats that WILL protect you if you upgrade. i bet the welds and everything else on those seats could not stand up to crashes...and do you really want to risk that?

btw good to a shop and put your *** in some seats. you will know the difference between the brands once you do. Bride has one of the best seats out there...but 1K is too much for me.

the thing with bride is that they make seats for girly bodies and REcaro are (super expensive (as the name translation in spanish implies)).

ehh i suck on spelling...and yes people with smaller bodies fit better into seats. sparco has just come out with seats that are for wider bodies...but then again...apc sucks. hell SCC has articles about the kinda seats out there...should check it out or go to autobacs and seat in some seats. best seats i have ever sat in that are not buckets (non adjustable) are Skyline GTR from either the R32 or 33 models. i really want to get my *** in some R34 seats.
