ok so here it is: i was driving home everything was fine, it was raining some what. The next thing i know i feel total power loss, so i keep floring it to keep it going for few seconds than car stalls. I tried starting it no luck, turns over just fine but won't get going, kept trying untill battery died.Got car towed home its sitting in the garage getting charged up while i was waiting for tow truck i tried this:1 Fuel- there sure is fuel pulled out fuel rail cranked it it sprayes good.2 Air- while cranking it bakfires alot of air3 Spark- pulled out my spark plugz they were wet from fuel put them to a good ground crank it i see a spark not a big one but there is a spark4MAF - checked it looks fine.5 Running out of ideas i thought timing chain might of skiped a tooth i took off the valve cover checked mechanical timing its on the dot.

Once at home battery charged up did the same thing everything is present car is turning over but just won't start.Checked computer for diognostics just gives me 55 code so i guess everything is fine there. The only thing that comes in mind about few weeks ago i noticed car shakes every so often there is a small shake and at the same time a small backfire. But it wasn't that noticable, so i was thinging to check it out ater.

Did this ever happen to anyone what was it ???Any advise on what else to check i am gonna run over and get factory service manual for now.:help

most of the time a back fire is either bad timing and/or fuel mixture..

have you put in new plugs or are you trying to start it on wet fouled plugs ?

its only 3 things that start an engine air spark and fuel if your getting all these then maybe your not getting them at the right time.. = bad timing.

also check fuel pressure.

Hey there, by chance, did you have your A/C on? I know it sounds really dumb, but something similar happened to my 1992 240SX, and what it turned out to be was that the A/C compressor seized, and though the motor would turn over, it immediately shut down again, so maybe your problem could lie there. Just my 2 cents, if it helps.

If you have code 55 then your problem is in a none dia. curcuit. Even though your getting fuel spray from the rail you need a steady 36-40 psi. Also check the injectors and make sure they are getting a signal. You may need a noid light to check them for pulse or a low wattage bulb. You should have battery voltage on one wire at the injector the other is a grd to the ecm.
