My antenna motor has broken and now the antenna is stuck all the way extended. I tried to get the motor out but i just can't seem to do it with the antenna extended! Any help on how to do this would be appreciated. I'm not worried about replacing it because I think I want to go with a short fixed antenna or just shave the antenna all together. So any suggestions/help would be super thanks

When I took mine out, I just cut the plastic rod that extends the antenna. Once that's done you can get the motor out easily, and retract the antenna and cut off the rest of the rod.

Mine sticks, but it still goes up and down... kind of. Sometimes it needs forced down. Must be an ongoing problem. But I'm not real big on the radio so i never bothered to fix it.

I just replaced my whole set up today. Got the motor and antenna off ebay for $32 shipped. Works and looks nice so i have no complaints. My old one wouldnt go in either so i just cut it off, removed the rest, then trashed it.

Don't try to force it in if it can't go because you will end up slipping and either hurting yourself or scratching your car. Not a good idea. I would say just cut it with metal shears. That is all it takes. There is a plasitc gear feed line inside the antenna that feeds it up and down. You can buy a new mast on ebay or most car part sites for like $20-30 bucks.

But if it is a dead motor you mine as well put a replacement in, but our Motors are horrid for jamming and going so you will not be able to find it at the junkyard(I looked 4 times at 2 Junkyards and each car had one missing or broken... Ironic huh?) and you better off just buying a new one because you will not know how long it will last if you bought it.

Mine still works ok except the lower part sems to not go in all the way. Which is really odd because I took it out and took a look at it and found no issues with the unit. It seems like it just seized on the lower scope and that is all I can. Also it makes a squeak sound every time it goes up or down.

As far as riding it or modding it...

I might want to do that top roof antenna mod, but I need to find a FAQ first on how to do it. You can see the top antenna mod pics on ionicdynamics.com There is a roof spoiler that shows one like that.
