Help another code P0455

P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Tank Detected (gross leak)

My truck just popped this code and I am due for an emissions test next month is there anyone that has a method to help me find this leak.

Im desperate guys this truck wont stop throughing codes now but I dont want to even think of getting rid of it hopefully I can do this myself.

It seems to lock properly but do I just need to replace it?

should I get it from the dealer or will any cap do the job?

Well you want to be sure it's the gas cap first. Look around all of the EVAP components to check for a big leak (split/cracked hoses, a hose that has fallen off, etc.). If you can't find anything you can try to replace the gas cap. You can buy a replacement gas cap at any auto parts store.

Start by looking around the hoses in the following images. It's a gross leak so it should be pretty obvious where it is leaking. It's gonna be somewhat difficult to look at all of the hoses around the EVAP canister but you'll have to get your head up under the car to get a good look.



EDIT: For some reason I uploaded a picture of the 3.3L EVAP lines earlier. The above pictures are the EVAP lines for the 3.5L.
