I have a 1993 Infiniti J30. It has a keyless entry remote.

Last night when the car was all locked and armed, I opened the trunk with the key and the alarm went off. Then I knew I had to open the driver's door to reset it. I did that, and to my surprise the alarm continued! I tested the security system on this car before and it had worked.

Then I opened the passenger-side door with the key, re-opened the trunk with the key, used the unlock button on the remote. Nothing worked to stop the alarm.

I finally disconnected the battery cables and left it that way overnight. This morning I re-connected the battery, and the horn no longer sounded. Still I couldn't start the car. The starter motor was shut off.

Since then I tried numerous things - open with key on either side, open with remote, open trunk, let alarm go until it stops. Nothing helped. Most times I just set off the alarm again. A few times I didn't - but car wouldn't start still. And the whole time, Security lamp on the instrument panel was off.

Please help with your suggestions! I really appreciate anything to try. I can't afford to have the car towed to a dealer and pay the expensive labor charges for them to figure out the malfunctioning circuitry.

Thanks so much.

Try to reprogram your keyless entry.

First, open the trunk, then lock yourself inside the car.

Put the key in the ingnition more than 6 times in 10 seconds, this will reset the security comp.

Then unlock the drivers lock lever and lock it once. Then press the lock button on the remote. The hazard light should blink. Then press the unlock button to hopefully turn off the alarm.

Twice is just to open all the doors.

I would imagine one turn would do the trick if this is the case, but I would try the open trunk with doors locked then put the key in the ignition six times in 10 seconds.

well i don't have a remote for mine so just locking it then twisting the key twice in the unlock turns off the alarm for me.

Thanks guys. I lost my password so I couldn't post an update.

I got it solved by turning the key in the lock (driver's side) WHILE the (driver's side) door was wide open. Not sure that's where the problem was, but it's something I'll try first next time this should happen again.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I have a 93 j30. Yesterday I drove it , ran perfect. Yesterday afternoon I had a new windshield installed and now car won't even turn over. Completely dead. Is this something to do with security system? How do I fix? I do not have keyless entry or remote start. Thanks

yea man its posible but if the problem is with the secuity cutoff then the alarm would sound when you open the door. otherwise u got other problems like dead battery/starter/silenoid-stuff like that
