I have a 1993 Infiniti J30. It has a keyless entry remote.
Last night when the car was all locked and armed, I opened the trunk with the key and the alarm went off. Then I knew I had to open the driver's door to reset it. I did that, and to my surprise the alarm continued! I tested the security system on this car before and it had worked.
Then I opened the passenger-side door with the key, re-opened the trunk with the key, used the unlock button on the remote. Nothing worked to stop the alarm.
I finally disconnected the battery cables and left it that way overnight. This morning I re-connected the battery, and the horn no longer sounded. Still I couldn't start the car. The starter motor was shut off.
Since then I tried numerous things - open with key on either side, open with remote, open trunk, let alarm go until it stops. Nothing helped. Most times I just set off the alarm again. A few times I didn't - but car wouldn't start still. And the whole time, Security lamp on the instrument panel was off.
Please help with your suggestions! I really appreciate anything to try. I can't afford to have the car towed to a dealer and pay the expensive labor charges for them to figure out the malfunctioning circuitry.
Thanks so much.
