What I mean is last week I drove the Z for a maintainance service, after the service, I took the air filter out of the inducting box and had a check.Unfortunately, I didnt clip the filter properly on the box and due to the viberation of driving it slipped open!! There was a gap between the filter and box which was about 2cm wide. I guess that means i been driving the car without a filter for about 10kms!!! What can I do with it? Can anyone tell me whether a damage would be done to the engine due to this? If it is, how much? Is itreally serious?

Welcome to Nico!I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it, first of all any air that you took in was high up in the engine bay unlikely to be anything heavier than dust, which I am sure was burnt up and spit out, if it makes you feel any better I do not run a filter on my turbo 240z at all and it's just the open turbo intake about a foot off the ground, many drag cars run without an air filter

so tell us about your car?

Hey evildky, thanks for the warm welcome and your story do make me feel a lot better. It's nice to get on board here as a Z owner, actually i just got my Z for not long. To be honest, i wasnt a big fan of Z, the front looks rigid and stiff, the sound of the engine is not attractive, the big heavy V6 engine doesnt deliver the power expected and looks coddle, etc. Well, i guess the biggest reason for that is because i lean on a wankel rx8. Anyway, it's a long story why i chose Z eventually. It is funny how people got things which were not their first option, isnt it? But, during the last couple of months (before i got my z), I have to face the fact ive fallen in love with z, probably attracted by the look of z in the first place .My z is a 2003 model, i got it off a rich old business man( we buy a lota 2nd hand stuff here!). It has only done 23000kms when i got it and everything was in mint condition, well,it still is. The old man had 4 cars, this one is just a toy for fun. So far so good, i was pretty satisfied by the performance of z, especially the grip when conering and the muscle car like roar.Well, well, well, I love it, absolutely love it!!

Cheers Foxxy

heh, it's a far cry from an RX8, rotary engines are like voodoo magic to me so I stay away from them I actually really like the first gen rx7 but was afraid to deal with the magic power barrel

I was luke warm on the 350Z when they came out, it is very different from all prior models, the styling grew on me but finally getting to drive one really impressed me, I wish Nissan offered a true stripdown track model with some sort of forced industion from the factory to hang with the Z06, well the old Z06 at least the new one is just insane

be sure to keep us posted on any problems you experience and any modifications you perform
