Hello everyone,

I'm brand new here on the site. I was excited to find you guys. I am a very, proud owner of my 71' 521. I was happy to find this ride from the 1st and only owner. He decided to part with the ride after blowing the head gasket at 150,000. He had the engine rebuilt and then gave me the truck. ( complete with Perris Valley camper shell) I put the engine in and have been driving this little green truck for the last three months. Last week... disaster stuck and my fresh engine starting running poorly. Checked points, timing,  valves and adjusted my new Weber carb... and still ran poor. The new morning I went to start and bang... blew out the muffler. I finally checked compression to discover the bad news... 35 in the third cylinder. Looks like I may have a burned valve or valves... So, I'm in for a Head rebuild.  Any advise would be helpful. What brand of valves should I consider? Any brands to stay away from? I'm excited to get right in there and have a go.

Thanks for any advise. I dig this site.

Welcome Davy...
post up some pictures when you can...
I've kept my eyes out for one of those shells...
found 2 that were toast and not repairable...
sounds like you have a nice ride....
don't mess up and put cheap parts in there...
get the valves from Nissan or www.Nissanparts.cc...been there, done that!
I redid a A87 peanut head the cheap way and had it blow a year later...no fun!
Then I took it to a good machine shop that I trusted (Cope Bros.)and had them do it right...new cam, valves the works....
cost me double but well worth it.
