:wtf2:
Hey guys! So, Ive never had an issue with my 03 pathy since I bought it almost 5 years ago. All of a sudden, yesterday on the highway going 70 my rpms went down to 0, but immediately went back to normal. Then I heard some very faint "clanking" under the engine when I had the accelerator pressed. That went away...
Today rpms went down a few more times, then went back to normal....except now the service engine light is on. Soo, I brought it to advance auto to check the codes for me. He checked it and it was the speend sensor, and crankshaft position sensor! Then he reset the service engine light for me, and the pathy took a few times to get started! Looks like its off to the dealership on Saturday.
Anyways, I was just wondering what all you experts out there think? As far of the severity or price of fixing this issue? The cars seems to be running fine, its just every now and then today and yesterday I seem to lose all power for like a half a second, but then its back to normal.
So, if I coud hear some input or advice as to what you guys think, that would be awesome!
Thanks!

I replaced my crankshaft position sensor on drivers side about 5 months ago (P1145), recently P1140 check engine light came on so I am ordering another position sensor this weekend. There are two sensors, and it is my understanding that you should replace these things in pairs.

As far as speed sensor, I have no idea.

EDIT: I believe the dealer charges around $100 for each crankshaft position sensor, atleast thats what my dealer charged. But you can get them online for about $75 a piece. They are a easy install, takes about an hour.

I also replaced both my camshaft position sensors to fix P1140 and P1145 codes back in May. They were about $65 each from Amazon, took about an hour to replace with a buddy's help. This guide was quite helpful.

Thanks! So it seems to be just the sensors. I was afraid that it could be mechanical issues costing me thousands! Well, Ill keep my fingers crossed that its just the sensors that need to be replaced.
I replaced my fan control amp a few months ago...but I dont think I will mess with these because Ive heard I could really screw up the engine if I do it incorrectly.
Thanks again :)
