Hello, I am new here. This forum looks great. I posted on another forum but didnt get much feedback(?). I need to replace the air flow meter (air mass meter) on my 78 280Z. Naturally the mechanic quoted me for a new one from Nissan. If I need to go new, I absolutely will. Can anyone tell me the reliability on a rebuilt from either Motorsport Auto (Their claim, they have been rebuilding them longer than Nissan), and/or a rebuilt from Borg Warner or any other company I may not know of. I Need to pass smog in april so I have to make a decision. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!Petra

Hi, and thanks for responding!. No, it is fuel injected. 1978.I just don't know whether to go with a rebuilt or a new one. Argh its frustrating. I dont want to have it done twice if I go with a rebuilt, but the price difference is alluring.Do you know if this message board is a really active one? How long has it ever taken you to get responses to a help question.

well, it is a fri... i was bored (kids nappin')

did u shop around @ the sponsors? warranties on this runs ~3 months?

most likey, they'll say go OEM... i know i've seen my share of aftermarket MAFs that have been damaged during shipping from warehouse to store... just d/t poor packaging of the sensitive unit...

oh ok, autozone's catalog sux @$$ sometimes; i found 4 manufacturers on http://www.partsamerica.com

around my area:

Niehoff #27754 $175 / Seven Terminals; O.E. No. 22680-N4211,22680-N4801

Niehoff # 28747 $278 w/ Five Terminals

Borg Warner 27754 $215

(all w/ 1 year warranty) -----------------------------I would go this 1 since it carries a lifetime warranty:

Beck/Arnley 1570028 $297 + it weighs a hefty 5.9lbs vs the others' 4lbs
