It is a 90 240 i bought a set of front lower control arms from pdm racing and I was about to install them when a friend who thinks he knows about cars told me I have to compress the spring to take the ball joint with the fork out. When i visited the pdm website they have a step by step guide to replace them and it said to unbolt the two bolts from the brake assembly to the strut but doesn't say to compress the spring. My guess is secured to the strut? but now i am kind of worried about unbolting the bolts. any tips would be very helpful.last thing i want is the spring flying through the door or worst. Thanks

well, you can officialy slap your buddy, lmao. The spring IS secured to the strut by means of the top plate. Dont worry about unbolting the 2 strut bolts the spring wont fly off unless you undo the top nut that sits in the middle of the top plate. Install LCA and do a little dance and report back with info on it.

i wonder how fast lightning would be if it didnt zig-zag?

Really easy to do, look at your new LCA and thats what needs to be removed & installed.

hey guys i have a 91 240sx and I'm having some problems with it. I'm pretty sure its the lower control arms on the left that the bushing is dead. my car makes clunking noises sometimes when i'm driving and the steering pulls when I brake. then my steering wheel will be off center and all of a sudden it will jerk or pull back to the center. I wanted to ask you guys if anyone has experienced similar problems such as mine. I am also looking into gettng the control arms at pdm probably just the regular one but i want to make sure that is what is wrong. Also, I changed my steering rack just the other day so that is new, and I also had an alignment. Any help is greatly appreciated..

I've never had that happen in a 240 but I'd definitely take a look at both your tension and tie rods.

Just get under the car and get a pry bar and start checking your bushings for play. Start with your control arms, then check your tension rods. Just keep checking everything with a bushing. Should be able to find it without much trouble.
