Yesterday when I started my '02 QX4 (116,000 miles), the A/T Oil Temp, Battery, and Brake dash lights did not go off. They are now on at all times, but the truck seems to be running fine. I drove it about 15 miles with no problems (however, I am not driving it now as a precaution). I pulled the + terminal on the battery for a few minutes and reconnected it, but that didn't help. The BRAKE light gets a little brighter once the E-brake/handbrake is enabled.

PLEASE ADVISE!

Note: I just brought the truck in for service and got an oil change, new front rotors/pads, and rear drum brakes cleaned. a few days ago. I don't know if the mechanic could've messed something up, even though this seems completely unrelated.

Note: My radar detector plugged into the front cigarette lighter is now freaking out every time I power it on. This issue started right after the dash light issue. No other electronics in the car are having issues, including a GPS plugged into the center console outlet.

What you're describing normally happens when the alternator and/or battery is going bad.
Check your voltages at the battery with the truck off, and then with it running.
With it off, it should read just below 12 volts.
With it running, it should be up around 14.5 volts.

Thanks for the quick reply Buzzman! Turns out it was the alternator. Getting it replaced now.

Had to replace mine last year. It's a pain DIY job.
I actually bought the new alternator, took one look at getting the old one out, and then took it to my local mechanic instead.
He swapped it out for a flat rate of $120.00. Best money I've spent in a while.
He told me afterwards that it was a royal PITA. Lucky him.

Yeah, I wasn't going to try that myself! I bought one at Autozone for $160 (when the mechanic wanted over $400!), then paid the mechanic $210 (2 hours) + taxes/fees.

I am having the same problem with all those lights on my dash lit up. What I discovered was that of I press the alternator plug in just the right position they all come on and the battery charges and all the systems run; however, if the plug moves out of place I may lose charging or alternator output... Kinda a bummer if driving.
Could this just be a faulty plug or connection at the alternator? Or is it something worse like internal voltage regulator? Alternator benched OK.
ANY IDEAS?
I am going to start a new thread on this because I need answers and am concerned that something could get damaged by me driving it around in this condition.
