Out of the entire bill, this is all I found that would pertain to vehicle modifiation:

New section 172.1 authorizes a police officer to suspend a person's driver's licence for 48 hours or impound the vehicle he or she is driving for 48 hours, or both, if the person drives the vehicle on a highway in a race.

New section 172.2 prohibits driving a motor vehicle with a prescribed part, containing a prescribed substance or equipped with prescribed equipment. The regulations will prescribe parts, substances and equipment that are commonly used in racing.

The language sounds intentionally vague, but I'm sure specifics would be available in the "regulations" they refer to.

The only things I could find were:

In Regards to Cracking down on street racers...

172.1 (1) Where a police officer is satisfied that a person is driving, or has driven, a motor vehicle on a highway in a race, the officer may,

(a) request that the person surrender his or her driver's licence;

(b) order the motor vehicle that was being driven by the person to be impounded; or

(c) both request the surrender of the driver's licence as provided in clause (a) and order the motor vehicle to be impounded as provided in clause (b).

In Regards to modifying the vehicle:

Prescribed substances, equipment for racing prohibited

172.2 (1) No person shall drive or permit to be driven on a highway a motor vehicle with a prescribed part, containing a prescribed substance or equipped with prescribed equipment in prescribed circumstances.

Sample inspection

(2) A police officer exercising his or her powers under section 82 may take or cause to be taken a sample of any substance from a motor vehicle to determine whether or not the motor vehicle contains a prescribed substance.

Lastly...

So, I suppose that could be construed to impound your vehicles for having any modification that could be deemed as race worthy. This is going beyond making "race only or offroad use only" parts illegal, it goes on to name that any part that can be construed as commonly used in racing is illegal. : )

I think the government will get sued by the big 3 and all the aftermarket part makers.... i believe this wont go any furthur because he'll get raped by numerous big companies and lots of little companies... beside's could you imagine the amount of harrassment suits against cops... peersonally i dont think it's possible for this to go very far at all...

theres bylaws in certain cities here that a cop can basically pull u over and give ur car a quick inspection if you have ANY aftermarket parts

id say that the law is discriminatin against poor people like me who dont have enough money to put down for a car that will only be used at the track. I forget who said it, but it would be true all aftermarket companies will go ape shlt if its passed.... they are threatening the lively hood for all of the tuner shops across canada whos living is in "racing upgrades" for street cars. sorry if what im typing doesnt make sense im really tired an too lazy to fix it........

Yea... im writing a letter to the party leader that ran against the guy trying to pass this law... i'm going to get him to clarify what this means for people like us... and how we can fight it...
