This morning my 99 Q45t cut off at the stop light withoug warning. It didn't sputter, nor did I see the rpms drop. I was able to crank it up immediately and then at lunchtime, it did the same thing. I pulled into a parking space and it cut off when I stopped. Both times it was without warning. Has anyone ever experienced this? What would I look for?

Based on what you said, my guess is air, fuel, or spark!

No really though, sounds like it might be electrical - check out and clean your MAF, pay attention to pins in connectors for wear (change air filter while in there).

My Q died on me twice in the last 100k miles. Both times without warning and when slightly warm, or non-warmed up engine. Hasn't happened in 50k. Both times in P shortly after start.

Looks like its electrical. I was able to see that I lost total power when it happened last night. The lights and everything went out while driving and came right back on. I still had to crank up the car again, and it crank right up. Battery was installed in Dec 07 and I've never had to replace alt etc. It has 187k. Haven't really had a chance to check it out but I will be shortly. The only thing I check was to see if i had a loose battery cable.

I think I found the problem. The battery was completely empty. Replaced the fluid in the battery and it seems like its fine now. Hopefully it solved the problem.

Hope you used distilled water for the refill.

I would plan on replacing it soon. Might do a deep cycle test so you don't get stranded.

Get the alternator tested also- generally a battery that is dry is due to excessive voltage{ faulty alternator} causing the fluid to boil off. I would also plan on replacing the battery asap once you confirm the alternator is OK. Also would be a good idea to remove battery and look to see if maybe the battery case is cracked and fluid{acid} leaked- clean with baking soda/water real well, otherwise everything metal will be destroyed
