Car: spending too much money on my cars.

Post

I bought my car used without a remote. The other night I had my running lights on, no key in the ignition. I reached in and unlocked my car door. My alarm activated. Lights, horn and the car won't start. Today I unplugged the control box for the entry system. The car starts and runs but the power locks won't work. If I reinstall he control box plug the alarm will reactivate. And after I turn the car off it won't restart. I've searched and found in posts that say to turn off a toggle switch under the dash by the fuse box. I can't find it. My friend can't find it. I looked in my aftermarket car manual, no mention of any alarm system. I'm FRUSTRATED. Can someone help me out here.

thats weird. Their should be a toggle swith that you can put your key in the ignition and on your left side flip the switch to turn it off. Look under the right side of the steering wheel up under neath there. Their should be a box around that area. Do you know if its the prestige alarm?

I don't know which alarm system it is. I can't find any toggle switch. Is it on the side next to the fuse box? All I can find is the smart entrance control unit.I have taken off all the interior panels in that area and found nothing. Is the toggle blk, white or metal? I would appreciate any help.

try this ....

the next time that happens close and lock the doors.and when you unlock the door hold the key in the unlock position for like 5 secs. I had the same problem and that actually worked.

so just turn the key and hold it there...

let me know if it works

Boy do I feel stupid. I reconnected the entrance control box and closed and locked the door. I inserted the key turned and held it there for like 5 sec. and poof no more flashing lights and honking horn. Thanks for the info. guys.
