I want to pick up a bass tube for the T/A. The Audiobahn ATB10T seems like it will suit my needs. I have a question about how to wire it. It is a single voice coil, 4 ohm 10" sub. Is this a suitable way to wire it?

Channels 3 and 4 have 6x9's on them. I'm assuming I can bridge channels 1 and 2 to power the sub. Am I correct? Will I hurt the amp or sub this way?

My other option is a DVC sub @ 4ohms. I'm sure this isn't the BEST way to wire it, but will it be suitable so long as I match the gains and frequencies?(only channels 1 and 2 shown, 3 and 4 still occupied by the 6x9's).

What is my best bet guys?

Single or dual voice coil woofers will still be wired mono. You do not want to run multiple coils on multiple outputs. Most amps use left positive for positive and right negative for negative when bridged.

What is the amp wattage specs? What are the sub RMS ratings you are dealing with? What is the lowest ohm rating when the amp is used as two channel?

I ask this because if you are going to bridge two channels and the amp can handle a two ohm load, the DVC can be wired to use the amp to its full potential.

The amp does 100watts max each channel, and is 4 or 2 ohm stableBoth subs are 4ohms (dvc and single coil)

Is this what you're suggesting?

or this?

The second pic is better but the way you have the sub wired, the amp is going to see 8 ohms equation: 4ohms +4ohms.

This is wiring the voice coils in series

You what to wire them in parallel (pos to pos and neg to neg)with this configuation the amp will see 2 ohms and pull more power from the amp for your subs.

equation: (4 * 4)/(4 + 4) = 16/8 = 2

Warning: Check to make sure that the amp is 2 ohm stable for two channel configuration because the amp may shut off from overheating.

Sweet thank you!

I decided to go with a single voice coil sub. I think I'll just bridge the channels and see how I feel.

Definitely not as soon as 6 months ago. When I got my first "system" I was trolling AOL for anyone with "car audio" for their occupation. I wasn't aware you were into SQ and resistance and the likes.

Whats you AIM name? I might have talked to you a loooooong time ago.

You really don't want to consult him about anything audio related. He will likely set you up with a pyle sub, profile amp and some "chilled" colored 12ga speaker wire as an amp kit. Top it all off with some factory 4x6's and that's PMQ for ya

I don't think I've ever talked to the PMQ screen name. Its not in my AIM history anywhere.

When I buy audio, I buy the high end items, so no cheaping out here. I enjoy Infinity for speakers, Rockford for amps, and have a soft spot for certain Audiobahn and Alpine subs.

Hehe, he was being sarcastic.

For my HU I used an Alpine 9856Front Speakers: Infinity Kappa 462.7cfpRear speakers: Focal 165A1Subs: 2 12" TC Sound db-500s.

Nothing cheap there

ps: Stay away from audiobahn anything.

I, and looneywill back me on this, recommend the TC Sound Subs.

Too bad you didn't get the K2's for up front.
