Help! 240 shuts off under WOT!

Ok, I have a 1989 240SX, it has a basically stock KA24E in it, some small bolt ons. This has been going on since I got the car. Sometimes the CEL is on, and the car shuts off at about 4k or so. The car is still running, but I cannot rev it up or anything until the revs go back down. Sometimes it is higher then 4k. While it is off if I mash the gas I can hear it sounding like it is sucking air, but no fuel maybe?

I was doing a mountain run a few weeks back, uphill in 2nd gear it shut off and I would have to wait and glide until I could use the gas again, same on the interstate. When the CEL is off most the time it wont do it. I dont know if it is crazy but usually when I use V-Power it rarely does it.
