I have a 2008 Altima 2.5S, I had previously had the transmission worked on for the typical whining at high speeds, I see on the net alot that most people will not work on the CVT trannies because they are difficult to work on, and that dealerships typically just replace them. When I had it worked on before it had 87,000 miles on it and when they looked at it they said it could need replacing and that they were backed up on new trannies and it could take a month to get the parts. But then they said it did not need replacing and that they could fix it. OK now 38,000 miles later, the same issue is occuring, but of course now I am out of warranty and SOL, 125,600 miles. Now do I complain that they should have just replaced it knowing that these trannies have huge issues or am I SOL. Thank You in advance for your thoughts and input

Also saw on here that it may just be something with the coolants or transmission fluids?

Knowing the way automakers work...there's a good chance that you're SOL. However, you may wish to contact Nissan's Consumer Affairs and request a good will warranty to cover your CVT. Particularly if you can prove that the issue you're experiencing now was not properly fixed, and is a recurring issue. Typically, if Nissan Co. will reimburse a dealership for warrany work, they'll gladly schedule a time to repair a vehicle.
