Hey guys,

I have a 2001 Pathfinder 4x4 with about 132,000KM (82k miles).

Recently, the dash lights for the speedo and the fuel gauge have not been turning on.

At the beginning, they would come back after driving a bit, but now it's gotten worse and worse, to the point where hy haven't come back in about 4 days!

It seems like a loose connection, but I just don't know where to look!

Can anyone give me some ideas on the cause and where to begin looking?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. The dealer said it was the dimmer swith, I picked it up after they replaced it and it didnt fix the problem. I took it back and they are going to take the gauge cluster out to check connections. I spoke directly to the mechanic, he said it may have something to do with the temp. of the truck, once it warms up in the cabin the lights come on etc. I experience the same thing, no speedometer or fuel light until 15+/- minutes after the truck is on. Ive beat on the dash, tried all switch options (auto, on, etc) nothing made a difference. I would like to hear any input on this so I can tell the mechanic at the dealership, my appointment isnt until early next week (3/10/08).

Thank you in advance.

So I have a similar problem in my Pathfinder 2002. In my case it's the tach and temp, i.e rt. side of the gauges that are intermittent in nature. I don't see any correlation with outside, engine or cabin temperature. What did your mechanic do? I suspect it's a loose bulb.

Let me know if you can.

Thanks.

Samir

I would try looking at grounds and fuses. Start there.

Same problem with speedo and fuel gauge light. Tach and temp side work. Started coming off and on at first. Now went completly out. Seems like someone out there should have a fix.

My 2001 has also been doing this for 6 months or so.... right side (tach) on mine. It's been on for the last month or so though. It was off & on before that but couldn't find a correlation.

I have the same problem and has been happening since winter of 2006. It seems to occur frequently in cold weather and when the car warms up it occasionally turns back on. Does anyone have a solution?

I know this is an old thread but I'm going to give it a shot...has anyone been able to resolve this issue? The right-half of my dash doesn't light up either. At first it was an intermittent issue and temperature does seem to affect when it happens more frequently, especially during winter. However, even after driving the vehicle for 30+ minutes and having the interior cabin temp. warm, the lights don't come back on anymore. Since no one has posted a solution, have all these people who posted the same issue just learned to live with no dash lights on the right-half of their PFs? The functionality of the temp. gauge and tachometer both work, there's just no lights! I know it's not the bulbs, so I'm thinking it's something to do with the circuitry of the dashboard, a wire, or a wiring harness? Can someone from this thread please post an update if you were able to figure out what the issue was? Please and thank you!
