I was driving down the hwy everything was fine, and then all of a sudden my engine died. Felt like I was out of gas, but has over a qtr tank. The engine sounds like it wants to start, but wont. Any ideas??

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to NICO!

When you tried to start the car again, did the SERVICE ENGINE SOON lamp on the instrument cluster illuminate? When you tried re-starting the vehicle did it just click when you turned the key, did it try to turn over, or did nothing at all happen? Do all of the electronics in the vehicle still function properly? Do you smell anything funny (smoke, coolant, gasoline, etc.)?

It turned over like it wanted to start. All electronics seem to work fine. I did not notice any smells, and did not notice the service engine light on. Thanks!

If you can rule out the battery/charging system and the SERVICE ENGINE SOON lamp is not illuminated, then it sounds like a fuel system issue. Most likely a clogged fuel filter is your issue; the low fuel lamp was not on before the vehicle broke down, correct?

Not that I noticed. I was thinking the same thing. I may try changing the fuel filter. I is located above the rear differential correct? I appreciate your feedback!

Yeah, it's right above the rear diff, you can't miss it. You might have some trouble with the bolt on the hold-down strap. It is likely super rusted and you will want to soak it in some PBlaster or something of the sort. You may end up mangling the bracket in the process. I had to replace my entire bracket, it was $30 at the dealer.
