Thanks man!! I thought that's what it was. Bullitandy has the part so I'm good!jimbyjimb wrote:Looks like the power steeing idler pulley bracket. Parts guys are usually pretty good at figuring out what you mean given a good description, as long as it's not schucks that is...
Are you serious!?! How long has your bracket been broken? How many miles have you put on it? I was able to get the whole assembly from bullitandy for a good price. Hopefully I should receive it Friday. I have the idler pulley jammed in a certain spot so it won't slide down and the belt pop off, but I so paranoid driving my car. I won't feel complete until I get the thing fixed.5zigen wrote:Wow thank God I found this thread, I have the same problem. Such a big engineering error in Nissan.
Guess I'll be ordering a bracket too.
edit: It appears you need to remove the PS pump to get the new bracket on.
NightRiderQ45 wrote:Man, I had a similar situation that Matchmade had this past weekend. I traveled back to Alabama to go to a wedding. i realized that my P/S and A/C belts needed to be changed. Well, I was able to change the P/S belt but at a cost. As I was adjusting the idler/tensioner pulley adjustment bolt, i adjusted it too tight and "pop" have of the bracket broke off. I didn't know that thing was made of aluminum. My issue now is that since that bottom part broke off, the screw doesn't have a secure foundation to keep the tensioner in place. If I hit a hard bump, the tensioner could fall down....belt pop off afterwards. Well, I had to get back to Oklahoma from Alabama, so i jammed a screw between the bracket and the "thing" that the adjustment screw goes in. I did that so the "thing" wouldn't fall while I was driving.
Now I'm ready to order the bracket from Joe ASAP. The deal is that I don't know what the part is called. I think it's called the P/S bracket. I saw the part price of $39 on Infinitiusa today. If you all know the correct name, please let me know so I can go ahead and purchase it. I was pissed that I broke the bracket, but I was able to gain some more valuable info on my car...(e.g. things NOT to do )
Pics are below....I used my cell phone camera.
Bullit...I sent you an email for a request of parts too. But if the correct part is what's stated on the IOS's website for $39.26 I will just buy from them. Here is the link of the part that IOS stated that I needed. It's #2.http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=2
What's done is done at this point. I've ordered a part from bullitandy so I will be ok. My question Q45tech, do I have to take off the PS pump? bullitandy sent me a e-mail saying that it's held on with 8 bolts. I only saw 4 at the time I was under the car.Q45tech wrote:Why they make belt tensioner gauges to avoid overtightening belt and wearing bearings and breaking things.

Actually this was way back when I was changing the bearings in my pulleys. The thing snapped and I jb-welded the broken piece back onto it. But then after the bearing change my car started to make noises again so I took it to my mechanic who saw the jb-welded piece and I'm not 100% sure what he did but he did remove it and still manage to keep the idler pulley in there. I'm not sure how he did it but I actually took it apart yesterday (regret it) and it looks like he jb welded a little onto the bolt to keep it in. I couldn't get it back in as tight so I went with that method too.NightRiderQ45 wrote:Are you serious!?! How long has your bracket been broken? How many miles have you put on it? I must agree, this is stupid Nissan engineering to make that out of aluminum!!
Andy, thanks for that part man!! I received it Friday and had it put on at 8am Saturday morning!! I feel much better now knowing that I have correct part put on. I even changed out my A/C belt too since the belt had a lot of cracks in it. Now all of my belts have been changed on my car and I'm good for atleast 2yrs5zigen wrote:But I'm going to order a bracket off EverythingInfiniti soon. I'd actually like to see how your R+R goes so if you can please keep this thread updated and take pics too. Appreciate it
Quote my post and you will see I used the correct URLs.NightRiderQ45 wrote:What's done is done at this point. I've ordered a part from bullitandy so I Maxnix, how did you get the pics to show up? Or is it my work computer that's causing me to only see three red X for the pics on my screen???
Glad you got it and it went smoothly!! You should know that that idler pulley has about 70K on it and so if my car is any example, you have another 160K miles.NightRiderQ45 wrote:Andy, thanks for that part man!! 5zigen, I would highly advise you to purchase the new/used bracket asap.
Great!! I forgot to ask you that when you mailed it to me the first time! That's great to know. The idler pully on my car had 180k on it so I don't have to worry about it for some time soon. I kept the idler pully that came off of my car just as a spare.bullittandy wrote:

Takes me to something about the alternator.maxnix wrote:EL-40 in the 2000 FSM?
Though I just removed this part I don't have any specific advice. But.... The bolt either threads into cut threads on the bracket or has a nut behind it. I think what I see from the picture is a nut-grab it.5zigen wrote:Trying to keep this thread within view on the forum... please NightRiderQ45 if you are reading this I need your help, or anyone else for that matter. Sorry for the late response! I actually took to a local shop to put the part on. I didn't feel like getting back up under the car again. I watched them and it seemed like it was just an simple un-bolt deal... Hopefully you can get this done!!5zigen wrote:Trying to keep this thread within view on the forum... please NightRiderQ45 if you are reading this I need your help, or anyone else for that matter.
