Does anyone have information about replacing the water pump in a 1991 Q45? Where is it located? I am not sure that it's the cause of my problem yet but any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Very simple and usually done in conjunction with the thermostat.

So how are your timing chain guides? Read teh ARticle on them before you do anything else.

Get the 1994 manual, and all will become apparent about the water pump and a few other common features.

You will have to read a lot of the previoius posts by Q45tech in particular to learn the differences between the early and later G50.

Welcome to nico!! The water pump is located in the very front of the engineits directly behind the fanblade. There are four 10 mm nuts mounting the fanblade to the front of waterpump. Take the 4 nuts off then you can take off the fan-blade,you might want to take off the fan shroud also..... so you have plenty of room, and it makes the job easier to do. There are 5 bolts mounting water-pump to front of block,i believe they are 14mm bolts, take those out then pull on water pump, straight foward, and it should come out.You might have to pry on lip of water pump with claw hammer or screw driver if water pump is stuck from the silicone,be careful not to scratch mounting surface of block where water pump goes,it made from aluminumso its scars easy, just be careful!Be sure and replace the thermostat while you are at it. when installing thermostat make sure the little stud that wiggles is in posistion,i believe it should point at 11 o clock. Use ultra blue rtv for installing waterpump. Dont over tighten you will squeeze out all the silicone and it will leak. Its a pretty simple and straight foward job. GOOD LUCK, if you need any more help just ask!! SUBZEROCARFANATIC

Try something a little more subtle like a sturdy but sharp blade.

Soemtimes a larger hammer is not better.

I didnt say a huge hammer buddy! i was just saying that the claw hammer works very well if you put it on the top edge and carefully pry works very well with no harm done. i understand your point, some people can sometimes do more damage with a hammer than good!

Welcome to Nico.

You can download a free copy of the FSM (Factory Service Manual) from here:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/

Look at page 20 and on from the LC Section to see how to remove the water pump:
