Ok, so my 180 wont start. when i turned the key, it tried to turn over, then stopped. now when i turn the key i get a ticking noise. no lights or any accesories turn on. not even the clock. whats wrong? thought it might be my battery but then my battery charger says its full.

the first part sounds like just a dead battery. does your charger have a high-amp jump start mode? or get a DC volt meter and put it on the battery terminals without trying to start and see what it reads. it should be.. i dunno, 12-14 volts?

sounds like a battery since you don't have power, check all fuses, also check your lower engine harness where it connects to the starter...

im thinking it would be a fuse. seeing as the radio went, then the headlights, then the clock.

i wasn't going to say anything about fuses since at one point the battery had power. if the motor tried to turn over, failed, and on the second try there was only that clicking sound, that means there isn't enough power, at least from my experience. if there's no power at all, like if the battery terminals were disconnected, there wouldn't even be the clicking sound. i'm still saying it's the battery at this point.. but putting a volt meter up to the leads is the easiest and quickest way to check that.

OP, do you have a volt meter? if not, they're fairly cheap and most hardware stores have them. they're always good to have around anyway!

my battery charger has a volt meter built in. it says the battery is full. as of now, once i giver, nothing at all happens. the tickings stopped. so it could be the connection at the battery terminal because i have 2 sets of fogs and a sub hooked up. im thinking its a combo of the 2 if not just the fuse.

you're charger probably isn't trying to lie to you, but does it give a voltage reading, or just like, a green and red bar, saying empty/full? i still recommend putting a volt meter up to it. and if you DO have power, like the other guy said, check all fuses and relays. see if there's power going to the starter when you try to turn it over. i really don't think you can check that without that volt meter.. good luck though.

my local shop is telling me, since its missing the wheel wells, the wiring harness could be frayed or cut. wheres that located on a 180sx?

their probably referring to the part of the harness that runs through the fenders..which are the ones that prolly got rubbed

does your fuel pump prime when you put the ignition on the on position? you can check that and if it primes, you can have a friend help you jump the starter to see if your car will start.

Check the IGN 75amp fuse thats in the fuse box in the engine bay. when that pops most of your lights wont come nor will the motor start.

Try a diff battery, check the connections. and the harness that goes through the fender walls has nothing to do with the motor turning over seeing that all the power to the starter and ecu go through the engine bay and pass into the firewall for the ecu.

also make sure your grounds are tight and nothing is arching
