hi all. i started removing the plenum last night with the idea that i'd be replacing the fuel injectors and checking out the hose situation. anyway, i got a bit ahead of myself and before i knew it, i was most of the way through when i realized i did not release the fuel pressure in the system. last time i replaced an injector i remember pulling the fuel pump fuse, starting the car and running it until it died. anyway, at this point, i've got the plenum completely off, what are my options for safely releasing the fuel pressure before i start pulling injectors? thanks in advance. other than this little oversight, so far so good. randy

If you're in a well ventilated area, I'd loosen the gas cap, and pull the fuel line at the fuel filter to release most of the pressure. Then I'd remove both fuel rails as an assembly so that when you pull the injector, you won't drain gas into the runners. Just have plenty of rags handy and don't smoke!

Yeah, just dump it into a glass jar.

I did the same thing. I didn't releave pressure from the lines. I cut one of the gas lines, to replace it, and gas started pouring out. There was a puddle on the garage floor before I could clamp the hose off. Gas fumes + closed garage = bad combination .

Just don't create any sparks and you'll be good.

Why are you replacing the injectors? Has one or more of them failed?

yeah, i started suffering a lumpy idle over the summer, ohm'd out the injector harness and was surprised to see that 3 of the injectors were shot. at the time i posted a 'what the hell happened to my injectors?' post and i believe the general repsonse was that the composition of the fuel i'm getting in massachusetts is injector-unfriendly.
