Right now the biddings at only $1100 with 13 hours left. I think he's scaring most peeps off with his talk of a loud ticking that just started up from the top of his engine. Of course most of us know it's more than likely just his timing chain guide

"there is a loud ticking noise coming from the front top of the engine ... When the noise started, there was a loss of power."

Could be something other than the guide. Good swap candidate, regardless.

Tell Dexter to get it.

is it made out of sand?

parts alone would get more than the asking price.

don't worry guys, i'm on it.

i've been watching since day one. i'm the first guy to suggest to him that it was the upper timing chain guide. it's an 11 hour trip to get there from where i live. but if price stays low, i'm taking it.

also i'd like to point out, you're not going to see a vert on ebay that i'm not watching. ever.

Gravetolife is selling his 'vert.. needs a painjob.. but the body looks good.. I don't see any rust anyhow... plus it's pretty close to you.. silvia conversion and 5spd conversion already done.. not sure what he's asking.. but he sounds desperate.

thanks for the link, seth. i think i've tried to make offers on that car before. he hasn't been very good with communication. i'll give it another shot though.

man, that car certainly is ugly. i'd put the chuki front back on it and save the silvia stuff for my coupe... which... i need to buy someday.

Sorry the Ebay vert didn't work out.

You want a coupe, too, eh? I'm thinking about keeping my vert motor pretty stock and building up a two-tone Silvia coupe.

vert > coupe > hatch

i'm a high-performance oriented guy. i love the vert - but not for racing.

... getting off topic, but whatever.

ever since i bought my last coupe (which was a pile of dog crap) with the ca's, i've wanted to build a ca18det coupe with silvia s13 front end conversion. i'm obsessed for some reason.

ok, kind of back on topic seeing how i pirated this thread!

ARGH!

anyways, i'm seriously considering making on offer on that silvia converted vert if it's as clean as it looks. i'm pretty sure this car had a rough past if i remember correctly, but as long as it is straight and clean, i'm down.

i'd like some input though. what's a fair offer? here's what i'm considering:

it's a vert.................................................. +$2500 (aprox going price)it has s13 silvia front end.............................. +$800 (price for parts)has 5-speed swap....................................... +$400 (price for parts)does not run - i think the motor's blown.......... -$600 (cost to get it running)needs paint - BADLY.................................... -$800 (cost to paint)rollin' on steelies......................................... -$100 (value of stock wheels)abused as a child........................................ -$400 (just in case)seller is desperate....................................... -$200 (supply and demand)i have to trailer it - 4 hours one way.............. -$100 (long drive at $3/gallon)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------fair offer......................................................$1500

what do you guys think?

sounds like a pretty nice deal for you.. I'd say the car is worth $1500 and the silvia conversion is worth another $800. In addition, he's got a S14 long block and some other parts. But.. it certainly does have some detractions as well..

He's got another offer in that thread for $1500.. so I'm sure he won't let it go for less.. however.. you are very close (relatively speaking) and that helps reduce your cost to acquire and the time it takes to complete the transaction (which sounds pretty important to him).

Don't be surprised if he's reading this thread by the way..

Anyhow.. hopefully it's rust free! If so.. Figure out how to make that deal happen. Looks like a real nice platform for a sweet 'vert build!

No way in hell is $1500 a fair offer. If you remember I was going to trade my s14 for this car. I said nothing bad about the car or guy because he is a fellow nico member. I can tell you that the car had no rust when I looked at it but there were still holes in the quarter panels from the side skirts that where on it. Also the transmission had no 2nd gear. All of the interior panels where stuffed in the trunk. It has no back seat, I have the doors and door panals at my house, and the rear driverside brake smoked really bad when I drove the car. We drove to Tn. to meat and I felt bad that he had to drive the car back so I gave him $200 for his gas. Having seen the car in person and knowing that I was given the half *** truth from the guy I would advise that noone pay over $500 for the car even with the silvia front. If anyone would like I can forward are email conversations so potential buyers can see what he said was wrong with it. My email is [email protected]

well, after talking to josh (sil_eighty86) for a while last week, i've decided to refine my offer. so i think it's time to bump this thread i pirated.

ARG!!

it's a vert.................................................. +$2500 (aprox going price)it has s13 silvia front end.............................. +$800 (price for parts)has 5-speed swap....................................... +$400 (price for parts)does not run - i think the motor's blown.......... -$600 (cost to get it running)needs paint - BADLY.................................... -$800 (cost to paint)no 2nd gear................................................-$200 (for new transmission)rollin' on steelies......................................... -$100 (value of stock wheels)smoking rear brakes......................................-$100 (for brake work)abused as a child........................................ -$400 (just in case)seller is desperate....................................... -$200 (supply and demand)i have to trailer it - 4 hours one way.............. -$100 (long drive at $3/gallon)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------fair offer......................................................$1200

i need to talk to the seller again. he told me the top worked just fine, but josh told me otherwise. probably needs to have some wiring taken care of from the 5-speed swap. if the top works, great, if not, i'll probably offer even less...

any other thoughts before i make the phone call?
