Try going into the Control Panel and updating or rolling back the driver.

You're using a serial port optical mouse? Wth, never even knew they had those. O well, whatever. I suggest you just go out and get a $10 optical mouse with PS2 port or USB. What version of windows are you running?

Bo buy a Razor Boomslang. Most accurate mouse in existence--and its a BALL mouse. 2000 dpi!!!!! That's just insane! It can be uncomfortable, so if that's a priority, maybe avoid it. It's also $100.

I just have a $20 microsoft optical...it does the job. People will tell you its not good enough for gaming. I think that my opponents online will say otherwise (doesn't matter what mouse you've got, it matters how much skill you've got).

You can get the new Microsofy Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 ($40-60 I think...) with padded leather grips and a "tilt wheel" which allows for sideways scrolling as well as up and down (good for threads with big pics). The tilt wheel axis isn't recognized by any games I know of at this point...but gaming is not the only reason to own a computer (there's also NICO).

Just stay away from wireless mice. Despite what people may tell you, they are just a pain in the ***. You have batteries to deal with, so if you don't have replacements or forget to charge it, you are screwed. Plus, the read rates are terrible--bad enough to actually negatively affect gaming because it is so jumpy...for that matter, even using a scrollbar gets irritating since you sometimes cant go exactly where you need to.

Yeah, cordless mice suck. My buddy got me one for my birthday two years ago, I tried to use it but I went back to my $10 optical, it was just a pain in the *** and to jumpy.

and I could've gotten one for 15 bux. brand new. Too bad I did not know how special it was. Anyways, I just saw the other day the newer real laser-track mice at circuit city i think. If i read correctly, it rivals or beats the razor. Plus you don't have a ball to deal with.

You can always get the laser mouse from logitech, the mx1000. If I remember correctly, you can get it online for about $65-70. Forget the exact accuracy of it, but it takes thousands of >6 megipixel images per second. Its wireless though. For all you people who have problems with wireless mouse, what brands were they? I have the mx700 from logitech and the only downside is always having to charge the battery. The mx1000 solves that since it needs only be charged once every couple weeks for like 15 mins or so. The jumpiness from optical wireless mouse could be caused from improper placement of the reciever. I have no problems at all with jumpiness. It could also be caused by using crappy or no mouse pads. I use a func1030 mouse pad with teflon tape on the feet of the mouse. It feels like it's gliding on ice when you move it around.

Logitech's wireless mice are vastly better than the rest, but they still are not as good as corded mice. Generally the MX series is good enough for gaming, but they are expensive. I've heard very good things about this new laser mouse.

The laser mouse is good. My friend already has one. If you want a gaming mouse get the MX510. They come in several colors and with the right mouse pad will own anything else out there.

That's a damn good deal for $49. I just might have to get one of those...especially since it isn't wireless.

That would be nice, but I don't buy things online. Paranoia...I'd rather pay the extra...safer, and I don't have to wait for it to ship.

i agree, i have a logitech wireless and it gives me no problems, it doesent even become jumpy when the batteries run down. we got a free bellsouth mousepad when we got our DSL and its amost glossy, it works ok on that, but a squishy mouse pad with that foam rubber on the bottom and fabric on the top, thats the best thing to use
