My mom has a 2001 Sentra, she found out that I use Synthetic oil in my V.. She wanted to change hers to that too, but I dont want to tell her to if it would be bad for the motor.. Its got about 80,000 miles on it, and like i said its a '01. I know on my '98 metro if i had put synthetic in it would have made the motor last less then keeping it on conventional, i think its the seals or something? I'm not much on cars...

She also has one of her headlights fogging badddd.. It looked like my metro ones and I think if it were for the fact that one of her headlights is newer than the other (due to a deer hitting one and busting it to where it had to be replaced) it would put out less light... So anyway i can find one good (itd be the drivers side) but not having to go to Nissan and paying a lot for one?

Also, the paint on her spoiler is pealing off, not like together but in parts... Can anyone explain why it is? I've never had a car peal like this one is at that many miles. Her car color is 2 colors mixed so its only one color coming off.. And how can it be fixed or something where it doesnt look like crap but not having to go to an actual paintshop and pay alot to get it repainted, if theyd even have her color.

Well the one thing you might wanna' keep in mind is that once you go synthetic, there's no going back. I've never heard of synthetic hurting a car, but from my understanding, it would be beneficial for a car with high mileage (not excluding low mileage cars).

You're mom probably has a broken seal, or a crack on the headlight that has condensation. You might want to search ebay or check local junkyards if you don't want to spend the money on nissan parts.

As for the spoiler peeling... it doesn't seem like it's a factory painted spoiler if it has two colors, unless what you're seeing is the primer. There are many factors as to why it's peeling, wear and tear, the elements, bad paint job (dodge neon and others had bad paint jobs from factory that would peel). The only way to get this fixed right is to remove the spoiler, sand the spoiler down, prime it, paint it, and clear coat it. The color will never match the rest of the car since the paint will be fresher than the already aged paint on your mom's car.

I wish you the best of luck.

well her car color is a blue/green/gray thing.. like its not a definite color, its a color Nissan effed up on.. I'm not even sure where to find a color close to it.. *shrugs*

The lights on my metro had a fog look to them like hers and there was nothing wrong with the light, i think it was just old.. My Fiance's Neons are like that too... =/ I'll be sure to check ebay for just one tho to replace it.. Can anyone tell me how to replace it myself?

I'll go in reverse order.

Did she wax it regularly? Nissan's paint quality was pretty poor at the time.

You could try re-sealing the light first. Aside from that, try junkyards. Lastly, try an OEM parts retailer (there are a couple that are sponsors, you can get to them via the link in my signature).

Synthetic is fine. It won't harm the engine. I run synthetic in mine, countless other B15 owners do too.

Nametakennow's sig has a link to FSM's, you might be able to find the instructions you need there.

When you say fog, do you mean condensation inside the casing itself or does it feel like theres a rough film on the outside of it? Just curious.

That's what happened to my '97 Malibu. I used a 200 grit wet sandpaper to remove most of the haze.

There's kits out that have multiple grades of sandpaper to clean the lenses off.

That's good to know for future reference, thanks for the heads up.
