(NOTE: I made an introduction in the main community page also. Not sure where I was supposed to introduce myself, here or there.)

Hello NicoClub.
I'm the proud new owner of a G37-S 6 Speed Manual Coupe. I think I'm in love with my car, guys. I bought it used just a little less than 3 weeks ago. When I was looking at cars, I was also considering a used Mercedes or a used Cadillac in the same general price range. I did a lot of comparison, and in the end I set the 'brand names' aside and just looked at the characteristics of the vehicles themselves. The performance of the engine. The interior options. The handling. etc.. And I felt the Infiniti came out on top. Not one ounce of buyer's remorse here. :)
So, you can see from the other cars I was considering that I also value comfort and a touch of 'luxury'. My G37-S came with black leather upholstery, black interior and dash, light grey/tan headliner, and a brushed aluminum or brushed stainless steel trim around the center stack/console, dash, and waistrails on the doors. The way I came about finding this forum was through internet searches on genuine wood interior trim. I want to replace the brushed metal and a couple of other choice trim pieces with genuine wood trim, but I don't much care for the OEM wood from the factory (I understand it's rosewood) as it is available for around $1200 I believe (or so I have read on the forum here). I really have my heart set on a dark brown/red walnut burl to compliment the dark interior of my car.
I just don't know much about these 'kits' like Sherwood and B&I that adhere over the top of the existing trim. they say they offer genuine wood veneers as well as 'synthetic' (which is absolutely not an option). I'm not completely sure about doing that to my car, but I can't seem to find a viable alternative.

So, my quest for information about wood trim continues so far to no avail. I'm hoping you good people here at this forum have the answers I'm looking for.
A big hello and 'how do you do' to all NicoClubers :)

I know that a lot of the better synthetic woods these days are nearly impossible to tell the difference from look and actually will keep the nice wood appearance more consistently than actually wood.

I don't have any personal experience in changing trim, but if only the real stuff will do,

this looks like it might offer what you need

I have one of the overlay kits on the sedan and it does OK. Take a lot of time prepping and cleaning the area first. Our sedan we bought used and it already had a kit installed. There is one section by the console cup holders that won't stick well and the overhead piece would simply not hold up due to the curves and I eventually pulled it off.

The pictures of that wood kit in your G look great! Mine is a manual transmission and due to the way the contours are in the console, the wood kits for the manual only go to the front of the shifter and stop. I've been emailing wood interior fabricators/restorers to get quotes, but most of those people work exclusively on Bentley, Rolls, Jags, and AMG Mercs. No interest in doing a wood interior in a car under the $100,000 price range...probably so they can overcharge their clientel. So far, out of the 4 wood interior fab/restorers I have emailed, only one has actually agreed to do the project, but the price is out of my budget. Another one, the price was within my budget, but he didn't want to work on an Infiniti... The other 2 never replied (which I consider a declination).
So, It looks like it's probably adhesive wood kit time for my car...

The above looks better than it is since it's not really wood. For the most point you get what you pay for and the majority of G owners will simply not purchase some expensive wood kit for their 40k car.

If you find something that works for you eventually then make sure to post it up, I'd sure like to see how it comes out.
