Hi im new to the ca's ive had ka's all my life i went kat blew it up and needed something with a turbo again i bought the ca18det in a car for 1,150 nothing was hooked up it needs to be wired up and vacuum lines need to be ran but i should be doing that very soon i made the kid give me a compression test on it before i bout it, it was 120 psi acoss the board i ripped the motor out to find out it had a brand new spec clutch in it i hear there garbage but probobly better than stock. Im going to replace the rear main on it and a few other gaskets nothing to crazy till i actually here it run and drive i might throw on this extra sr turbo i got. But i should have h beam rods and cp pistons for it soon but they wont go in for a while but eventually i want to put a gt2876 on it and shoot for like 400hp. It also came with some blitz ecu too but it came with everything for the swap intercooler everything. For some reason the cold pipe is made of metal i thought they were plastic. heres a few pics

;I never got a stock cold side, but I though for sure they were plastic. the hot side is metal.

welcome to the land of part horders and forever "almost running"

be very careful with those Blitz and other tuned ECUs. They usually are the source of more issues than good stuff. I would send it out to be tuned, thus you know what specs it is for sure tuned for.

anywho, the search button is in the top right corner, and all the info could could possibly ever want is at your fingure tips. GL

Sucks man, that compression is shot. 170 is stock, Nissan recommends replacement of the rings if its 15psi lower in any 1 cylinder. If your going to change the turbo do it while the motors out of the car, its much easier.

would highly recommend a motor build on any used engine (espeacially if you plan on beating on it)

Don't be like alot of people that bad mouth CA's about them exploding. Its a 20 year old motor, if you want it to last and make 400hp (~300whp) then rebuild it.

The 120psi across is decent for a good rebuilt (atleast its even :P)

When you do the vaccume lines, be sure to wire in the "powervalves" /butterfly valves in correctly. You'l enjoy the torque down low ((gogo hobo vtec))

ya 120psi is good enough for me for a few months then ill rebuild it but i noticed on my harness it looks like its missing the plug for tps the plug that goes directly onto it. O ya the commpression test was taken by like hand the motor hasnt been ran in a while so im sure once some oil gets flowing it will go up alot more

comp test by hand won't net you accurate results.

Warm the engine up and do it again when its running.

If low number,s pour a little bit a oil into the spark plug hole, if your numbers go up (alot) then your rings are f***ed.

if nothing, then somehow you got some burnt valves.

Check your compression again. It is not normal for compression to be that low, but even across the board. Change to a different compression tester; or I bet you guys used a very low power source to rotate this engine. This would cause it to rotate too slowly subsequently causing your readings to be low. And like Gabby says, just because it's a blitz ecu doesn't mean it's okay to run 30 psi of boost through your engine or you'll be needing those CP pistons very soon.

Well, good you got some experience because this one doesn't act much like any of them. It has it's own characteristics including it's likes and dislikes.
