HI! I am new to Nico and I was ref. here by a real life moderator on this site with a 350z. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima SL, 46k miles on it, everything is stock. I use it to commute everyday 70 miles. I bought it at 38k and have been loving it ever since. The first time I drove the Maxima was the day I bought it, literally I never heard/knew of maximas @_@! IDK how, (Newer ones that is the older 2/3/4 gen) always though it was a nice Alitma! Crazy. So just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am in Florida. And I am looking to get new brakes soon (my other post), 10-20k miles new Pirreli Neros, a Jet performance cheap to save gas possibly( and a K&N cold air after if I get the programmer). Other than that, I love the Bose sound system and will continue bumping on :) Image

Oh but 1 Question I kind of have... Why do I have a 16 gallon tank when the manual says I have a 20.... ?!? I swear I got bricks down there or something, no matter what I do, it will go to "----" DTE. I go to the gas station and bam 15.8/.9 gallons. It is the weirdest thing ever. I would REALLY enjoy having an extra 80 miles to my tank, the extra 6 x 4, 24 lbs of gas wouldn't bother me, if it did I would have a non fat friend policy ;) lol. I am guessing it is my gas gauge that is umm messing up and I always have an extra couple gals in there. BUT!! when i was like on ---- I noticed for like 500 feet right before the gas station it sounded a little different (no it wasn't the AC fan, which is noisey btw lolzz). So I am hoping that I just have 8 keys of some "flour" shoved in there and they just HAPPENED to forget ;0, so I would be driving a GT-R very soon !!

SO my plan is simple, get to empty, go on my back and start tapping away to hear if it seems full or not

Yes I am right by Boca matter of fact, if it isn't the old people that will get you, its the trophy wife moms drinking their coffee while on the cell phone in their GLK-350s smashing the peddle to the floor so they can hit the red light quicker ;). Yea I will throw up a picture some time of my MPG gauge (34.1 Honestly and 41.6 tailing a truck at 58 mph), but in realistic matters its 28.6 mpg highway going 69-79.

And yes, doesn't hurt to have more friends =D!

Welcome to NICO! Interesting stuff about the gas tank... maybe just get yourself a 2 gallon tank, and drive it til its dead empty, pour the 2 gallons in, and get yourself to a gas station.
Maybe it considers 0 range when there isn't enough fuel to ensure a proper start when parked on an incline or something...

Mhmmm I would consider to do that, but I heard its kind of bad to do that to cars, especially BMW's for some reason (probably some myth). I am going to guess that I have exactly 17 gallons of capacity, and does the same thing my envoy does; lies so you don't run out of fuel lol. I have been under my car while it has been on a lift, sure one interesting car under there, even has shielding that seems to even function as a heat sync to cool down the exhaust pipe. The thing was that my gas tank is spread out I guess to distribute its weight, but one side, is smaller, even seems like enough volume for 4 gallons ... Hmm, I am going to look under my car again later this week to make heads or tails out of this, my "pinging" technique seems like the best option.
