Hi all

I have just got my first Nissan Maxima 2003 aka Infiniti I30. I live in Sweden and our Maxima looks just like the I30. I have an VQ30DE in my car. Pics are comeing soon.

So to my questions.

#1 What is the dif between the I30 and I35 (not engine wise)#2 My engine only have about 200hp and the I30 have 227hp why?#3 Can parts from the I30 be used on the I35? Like the front grill?#4 Where can I buy I30 original stereo with a CD changer?#5 I also want to buy the Infiniti rear emblem and (dont know what it is called) where it say Infiniti on the trunk, the chrome part??

Thanks

- Alexandar

Some of these things might vary depending on how your E-spec car is equipped, so my differences will center on USDM I30s and I35s only.

#1 - The differences were minimal aside from the engine. The I35 got nicer leather, different location for hazard light button, trip computer with other functions, steering wheel radio controls, 6-disc in dash changer, availability of the sport package with VDC, standard HID headlights, standard 17" wheels, different tail lights, different grill, different floormats, slightly different interior color, etc. I'm sure I've forgotten things. Differences were mainly minor cosmetic.

#2 - Not entirely sure...the 2000-2001 Maximas here had 222HP (I think) whereas the I30 and Anniversary Edition Maximas had 227HP - the difference there was always chalked up to being ECU differences (I think). Not sure why yours would only be rated at only 200...perhaps you don't have a Variable Intake Manifold? (Just guessing here)

#3 - Most parts should be interchangeable. If the grill opening looks to be the same then it should be swappable. Several regular I30 owners here have swapped to the I35 grill.

#4 - eBay or the classifieds section at Maxima.org are probably your best bets to buy the OEM stereo equipment.

#5 - Don't know the technical name for it either, but I've found it before in parts catalogs. Look at some of the sponsors that sell Nissan OEM parts and go through their parts catalogs. You should be able to find it.

From the exterior, you have the same marker/tail/headlights as the 2000 I30 - 2004 I35's, but I believe you have a different grille. Not sure if Xenon was an option with yours, but the I30t's and all I35's came with those standard. The US-Spec I series do not have the side front-fender turn indicator and the rims you have match those of the GLE Maxima, not the I series.

The US-Spec I30 came with this standard:

- Air conditioning with climate control - Diversity antenna - Peripheral anti-theft protection - Front ashtray - Bose audio system - Automatic drive indicator on dashboard - Cargo capacity: all seats in place (liters): 422 - Compass - Dashboard full console with covered storage box , floor full console with covered storage box , overhead partial console with covered storage box - Cornering lights/curb illumination - Delayed/fade courtesy lights - Cruise control - Front seats and rear seats cup holders - Door ajar warning - Door pockets/bins for driver seat and passenger seat - External temperature - Driver and passenger front airbag - Bucket seat , bucket seat - 3-point reel height adjustable front seat belts on driver seat and passenger seat with pre-tensioners - Front seat center armrest - Garage door opener - Height adjustable two active head restraints on front seats , height adjustable two head restraints on rear seats - Headlight control with time delay switch-off and dusk sensor - Illuminated entry system - Internal dimensions: front headroom (mm): 1,029, rear headroom (mm): 950, front hip room (mm): 1,379, rear hip room (mm): 1,346, front leg room (mm): 1,115, rear leg room (mm): 919, front shoulder room (mm): 1,433, rear shoulder room (mm): 1,427 and interior volume (liters): 2,888 - Low fuel level warning - Low washer fluid level warning - Memorized adjustment with four driver's seat positions - Remote power locks includes trunk/hatch - Power steering - Front power windows with two one-touch , rear power windows - Front reading lights - 3-point reel rear seat belts on driver side, passenger side and center side - Rear seat center armrest - Bench asymmetrical three rear seats - Automatic operation rear view mirror - Remote audio controls - Remote fuel filler door release - Electric remote trunk/hatch release - Front seat back storage - Leather seat upholstery - Seating: five seats - Front side airbag - Seven speakers - Leather covered steering wheel - Tachometer - Driver and passenger illuminated vanity mirror - Ventilation system with recirculation setting and micro filter

Standard on the 3.0l but option on 2.0l

Oh, didn´t know that, my car is a maxima so that makes sence.

The US-Spec I30 came with this standard:

- Peripheral anti-theft protection

#What is this? - Bose audio system

# I want this in my car!

- Compass

# Where is the compas?

- Garage door opener # Nope, not many ppl have automatic garage doors here.

- Headlight control with time delay switch-off and dusk sensor

# hmm no, dont think so.

- Memorized adjustment with four driver's seat positions

#Def NO

- Remote audio controls

# Nope, I dont have an original stereo in my car so the controls is not installed

- Seven speakers I know I have 6, but where is the seventh?

- Tachometer

# Don´t know what this is.
audtatious wrote:- Height adjustable two active head restraints on front seats , height adjustable two head restraints on rear seats

I have three of them in the rear seats.

BTW, did the color on my car exist in the US and canada? If yes, whats the name over there.

Thanks

- Alexandar

Not sure what the "peripheral" refers to, but this is the alarm. Quote »

- Headlight control with time delay switch-off and dusk sensor

# hmm no, dont think so.
If you have this, your headlight switch will have an extra position labelled "Auto," and you'll have little coin-sized circular sensors right where your windshield meets the dashboard. That's the way it is on the '04 model, anyway.

Quote »- Tachometer

# Don´t know what this is.
It's the second large gauge, next to the speedometer, that shows engine speed in RPM.

Quote »BTW, did the color on my car exist in the US and canada? If yes, whats the name over there.

Thanks

- Alexandar
I'm not sure if it's the official name for it, but I usually see it referred to as Champaign.

No 2.0L offered in US. I30 = VQ30DE and I35=VQ35DE only
SashaVQ30DE wrote:Oh, didn´t know that, my car is a maxima so that makes sence.
Neither Maxima nor I series come with the side-fender blinkers
SashaVQ30DE wrote:- Bose audio system

# I want this in my car!
No you don't. Well, if you just listen to music at low volume it's not that bad.
SashaVQ30DE wrote:- Compass

# Where is the compas?
Compass is integrated into the rear-view mirror
SashaVQ30DE wrote:- Seven speakers I know I have 6, but where is the seventh?
US-Spec had two options: Bose and non-BoseNon-bose was a standard 6-speaker setup (front mid+tweet and full-range in rear doors)Bose had 6-speaker setup + sub mounted on rear package "tray"

Oh I ment the rims, not the side repeters. Here in Sweden the rest of europe every car must have dem.

There was an 2,0l engine here in Europe, it was the VQ20DE a V6 with 2,0l. ha ha.

Champaign, this is what it is called here.

Thanks for all the replys but I still have a few questions left

The question still stands about the engine dif betwen the cars? or just more specs about the I30.

Do someone have a good picture of the Instrument panel the part where the Bose stereo is placed.

Thanks

- Alexandar

The US-Spec I30 has a 2,988 cc 3 liters 6 V engine with 93 mm bore, 73.3 mm stroke, 10 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder. Power: SAE and 169 kW , 227 HP @ 6,400 rpm; 217 ft lb , 294 Nm @ 4,000 rpm

Not sure why your 3L only has 200hp unless it is based upon the previous gen ECU which was rated at 190hp. The US-Spec and your motor look exactly the same. What limits you to 200hp is probably the computer and/or intake.

Here is a pic of the Infiniti 6CD Bose system (looks different than the Bose system with NAV).
