Well hi every one i just wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions. am new to the ca18det and am in the process of building my first for my very very clean 84 200sx turbo. now i am so close to the edge of getting away with the stock pistons on this its not worth the effort. so i need to go over. i wanted to keep it stock bore so im only going .5mm over. now the biggst question, again i want to keep it stock, does any one here know where i can find stock cast over sized pistons in the us. my budget isnt what i had hoped and i can really use to save the money for tuning. well i look forword to talking to some of you and learning all i can on this crazy motor. thanks much, Benjamin

They can get stock pistons in .20 or .40

Is that something you have to contact them about cuz I have been on there many times and have never seen oem det pistons.

So I emaild them and they replyd with,"you would have to order forged pistons in any bore you want". That's it? Nothing more? WTF! So with that I'm done with ipp. Anyone else have. Any ideas. I'm looking for .5 over, oem pistons. I would rather not pay. So. Much in shipping that it is cheaper to go forged. So who knows what the max bore can be, the fsm is a lil hard to understand. Also max piston to wall. Thanks

Let me stop you from whoring around NICO looking for over-sized pistons. If your stock bore still displays a cross hatch, you should re-hone, re-ring and re-install the stock pistons. No one has .20 over-sized stock pistons, but me (that I know of) and no one who's got them is going to part with them. Mine are in my engine and they are only in there because the engine came with them. Take my advice and evaluate your motor to determine if you really need over-sized pistons.

Getting oversized OEM DET pistons in the US will cost you more than forged pistons will. Plain and simple. No if's, and's, or but's about it. As Dee said, make sure you actually NEED to go oversized.

Sorry for the bad news. If you're brave, and have E85 available, you could run DE pistons, but you'll have to run bigger injectors and be able to tune the fuel and ignition maps to accommodate the E85.

And I have a gang of DE pistons as well. I was seriously thinking about running the DE pistons just to see how much they can take under my driving conditions. I'm pretty sure I can handle the tuning duties, but the reason one would possibly do it is to (a) save some money, (b) to gain some low end power with the use of higher compression pistons or (c) for sh(!)t and giggles. Oh well, nothing I have is broken, so this can wait until another day.

ya, thanks guys but i just want a nice stock, w/ bolt ons only, DD motor that has a lil extra kick for the weekends. but i took your advice boost boy and had my math on my block and pistons, rechecked at a shop. anyway here is where we are with the block. #2 shows the most wear. my out of round was .014, thats close but still withen speck, when i checked i had it at .016. taper was a non issue it was fine. now my piston to wall, i had .037 at home, my guy got a lil better at .033, and again its withen speck but close. he said i should be good all the way to .04mm and if anyone says differant there crazy. anyway, it still needs a hone, it already has the glaze busted, so just a hone. so what do you all thing, is it good enough to stick to the stock pistons?

If you're not gonna get crazy with power, those specs sound fine.

I don't plan on running more than 225-250 if I can even get 250. Really like 200-225. I'm sure it should be doable with just bolt ons, I have a bb T28 from a s-15. I know its over kill but I got It with the motor, and its flawless shape. Other than that I plan on running a side mount, bpv, and oil cooler from a 1st gen dsm. With that set up ill brake the motor in and build on what I have. Depending on how much I can push the motor on this set up ill get a bigger front mount, and bigger oil cooler if needed. But I'm really going for a stock looking set up, makeing no more than 200hp, that I can build on.

That turbo isn't even breaking a sweat at 200hp.
