Car: staying out of trouble

Post

This isn't my car; it's my wife so max performance isn't going to happen from her.But I will do what I can till she starts to complain. The car has about 85k on it and nothing has been done performance wise to it i'm looking to do simple bolt-ons my 1st priority are the brakes looking for a stainless steel brake brake lines and better pads(hawk hps); need to know which forum sponser has the best prices on these for a 97 Infinity. The car is in good condition she always took it to the dealer against my wishes.Belts have been changed and the cv boots have been replaced. What elses should I be concerned about for proper upkeep? One other problem that i have noticed is that going from park to any drive gear is sorta hard ie. very stiff on intial startup is this normal?

TIA SS

I assume when you say belts changed, youre also including the timing belt on your I30? The rest I'll leave up to more knowledgeable members to answer.

And post some pics!

I have SS lines and Hawk pads for your car, as well as rotors and premium brake fluids - Email me for pricing.

Flush and replace EVERY fluid in the car. That model is damn near indestructible, your wife was wise to have it dealer-maintained.

You'll find more Nisssan experts here than you can count, and the Maxima guys will be VERY valuable to you (as the I30 is nearly identical).

Are you talking about the transmission shift or the gear shift in the interior (the one with P, N, D, R, etc)???

If its the gear shift, its probably on of the clips slightly out of place or the gear shift cable needs a little lubing (maybe both).

It is probably the cable; because when the car is up to temprature it is smooth as butter. Haha just saw the "drives moms car" I wish. Are there any particular service issue that i should know about, last service was done at about 75k all belts replaced. Oh its the interior shifter

Welcome to NICO SubersiveSilver. You've come to the right place for Nissan/Infiniti help.

You might be able to find more specific info at maxima.org -- but they seem ban-happy so tread lightly.
