well first of all, whatsup everybody.. looking forward to some intellectually stimulating information trades.

Okay, so i recently acquired a 99 max se a few months ago everything was flawless besdies a few cosmetic challenges which have been worked out. The problem at hand is soon after i installed a CAI (bout day 1/2 ago) Ive notice a huge difference in throttle response.. sometimes; when stopped at a stop light i have a good 2 sec delay b4 the car will accelerate. Im also noticing that it takes the car awhile to hit 2nd gear.. almost like its just coasting at a certain RPM b4 it finally decides to kick into 2nd while ive got the pedle down wonderin what the hell is happening.

soooooooo, any help/word of wisdom would be highly appreciated!

easiest thing to do would be to put your car back to the condition it was in before to troubleshoot. my guess is you improperly connected/routed a vacuum line when you put the intake in, or else there is a leak somewhere and the maf cannot compensate for it.

Does this happen when you are accelerating from a dead stop (not a rolling stop)? If it happens from a rolling stop, that is common/normal for the automatic transmission.

well when i noticed it, it was from a dead stop. I was sittin at a stop light when green hit i pushed down on the gas pedal to no avail then it kicked in.

on Nissanforum somebody was talkin bout resettin ecu after cai, the problem is the instructions for resetting ive found online are for 95 and i couldn't get it to work the same for 99

The ECU is adaptive learning, so you may want to give it a week and see if it straightens out.

cold air shouldnt make it do that even witht he ecu relearning more air coming in never did with mines and i have a 99 that delay in acceleration could be many things first i would check all your hoses on your cai to make sure that you did them right and connected them where they need to go.....if that doesnt fix it go back to normal and see if it does it if not then i would say its definitely something else.

my friend had this issue so did i bu it was a bad coil and you also got to remember the 99 had many problems with the coils coming apart after some time of age.....because they changed from companies this year to try out new coils so yeah if you want a list of stuff that will go bad on the 99's let me know
