Post

Hi,

I just purchased a 2004 G35 4-door auto 3 weeks ago. It has pretty low mileage (46k) and so far I love it! It has such a great feel/sound when you first accelerate.

I do have a small problem I was hoping someone on here could help me out with. In trying to remove the rear license plate to replace it with my new one, I ran into some difficulty. It appeared to be held in with simply standard flat-head screws, but there is apparently some sort of plastic locking brackets (behind the license plate) to which these screws are affixed. I've tried to manipulate the brackets while trying to unscrew the bolts, with no luck.

So, does anyone with an 04 know the trick involved with getting these brackets loosened enough to allow you to unscrew the license plate?

I know I should be able to unscrew it, but they simply will not. And I'm not a complete moron who just doesn't know how to use a screwdriver. These brackets somehow are not letting the bolts be unscrewed, and believe me I've been trying!!

Also a possible solution is to use pliers and pull out while twisting to unscrew them. The pressure could hold the other side so that it doesn't turn. Or if the screw is in a place that the threads aren't hitting the bracket then it should move them and start backing out.

Oups It is a 4dr coupe picture. LOL

I guess after 15 hours of work 3 in the morning not the best combination to help out the brother. I tried anyways.

To the op. Have you tried to lubricate the scews? That should help too. I replace my cars every few years and never had this issue. Not picking on you just saying. Some of them little rustier than others.
