Hello to all the forum lurkers. I may be wondering around these parts from now on. Just about to pick up an 87 300zx

I havnt picked it up yet. I will get it on friday most likely for $800. $200 more than i wanted to pay. $1200 less than he initially wanted, $200 less than he wanted when i 1st offered $800 but none of that matters. It will come with some issues. Neither windows roll down. He says it's been like that since he got the car. I'm hoping for a simple fuse fix, if not what might it be??

Other known issues would be the slightly leaking T-top. AC needs "recharging" he claims. I've never understood how ppl can tell the difference between a car needing a recharge than being completely fixed.

yes after checking a few forums & sites i've seen a couple people mentioning switches & window motors going out.

This is one LONG week. I've been searching for a car for over a month now. What really sucks is that after i pick the car up on friday, friday is my last day off for the week. If i already had upgrades lying around i probably would take saterday off but im not that fortunate.

what are some of the first upgrades you people drooled over?

i'm looking into first seeing what type of suspension changes i'll need to get this to be more of a drifter. Just reading books & such. Would help if i had the car to work on now though. Anyone know if this car has an LSD?

As for the man who mentioned turbo headers, i dont have a turbo

If you want a drift car, buy a 240SX. The Z31 is a little heavy and underpowered (especially an NA) to drift without throwing a significant amount of money at it.

And if you don't have a turbo, then you definitely don't have an LSD.

im not super big into drifting yet but the power of this car shouldnt be an issue. No doubt turbo would help me but ill probably have to do the whole engine swap thing that way my VIN wouldnt be a turbo. Because my points are way up there already, turbo would just be another excuse for ins. co to charge me out my *** for nothing.

I know s13s are lighter & everyone drifts them. i was looking for an S13 but i like z31s better and i found it first so that's what im going with. I'm more concerned with speed & style. Drifting is just a plus. I've found threads of people who adjusted, the wheels turning radius (i think thats what it was) to fuller & easier drifts. i've found other things as well.

Z31s are kinda tough to get sideways, as mentioned they are heavy and the N/As are underpowered.

you will NEED an LSD if you want to really drift with it, an open diff is fine for gettin a lil sideways around corners sometimes but nothing like drifting.

suspension wise I'd say go for springs first as they have a tendency to squat ALOT followed by stiff swaybars.

and I'd recomend finding a Z31 turbo car in the junkyard or maybe a parts car and robbing it of its drivetrain.
