^^^C'mon... take it easy on the guy.

Taku, drifting in the U.S. is really different from Japan. Very rarely can anyone find a place to go drifting legally EVERYDAY. If we risk drifting on public roads, we will probably hurt somebody or get arrested.

Here's some Texas drifters on an old abandoned public road:

same guys in an idustrial area after hours:

Lol... Texas is really flat... We have no mountains to downhill on!

Alot of places have tracks nearby and we organize 'Drift days' every month or so. Here's a sanctioned and legal Drift day in Texas. This place is big enough for triple digit speeds while drifting!

They have Pro's here to teach the new guys. Usually, new drifters learn faster and drive better at events like this rather than on the street.

Lots of ppl are swapping bigger engines into smaller cars, like Corvette motors and 1JZ/2JZ. As far as what cars do we drive over here: Pretty much anything that spins the rear wheels.

You might see anything out at the track! S13/S14, AE86, MX5, FC/FD, 3rd & 4th gen Supra's, Starion's, Z31\Z32, even Comaro's, Corvettes, Mustangs and BMW's...

Here's another video i like. Tanner Foust is a BIGTIME Professional U.S. Drifter. Rockstar took a FWD Scion TC and converted it to RWD for him to slide in. Then they shot this video of him drifting on one of the most famous street in the whole country!

I'm not gonna lie, I got my first 240 because I wanted to be a drifter. But when the scene got big, with all the Pro's and big drift events with sponsored cars and all the lame fanboys, I started to dislike the drift scene and lean more towards grip/road course racing.

But the resurgence of the grassroots drift scene and all these cool drift videos with high production values are making me fall in love again. Hopefully I can make it to to Mineral Wells soon and get some slide time in...

So whats it like bein able to drift in Japan...I can only imagine how awesome that would be. Do you get to go to the track everyday or do you guys just slide on the streets when you feel like it? I am even thinking of joining the military in hopes to be stationed in Japan.

I served in the United States Marine Corp, I trained with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. Pretty much every Marine is stationed in Okinawa sometime in their career since one of our major bases is on the island. I will not lie though, Okinawa sucked pretty bad...the heat is unbearable at times, your always sweating. The barracks aren't air conditioned either. But on the up side when you have free time you can go out and check out the local scene. I picked up a Mazda rx7 FD3S from some ho-dank dealership in the middle of no where, I had to do a lot of work to it but it all payed off in the end. The locals tried to teach me to drift, but I never got great at it because I never really had time to practice or the money to stay in it (military pay sucks!) so in the end I ended up selling my baby, I would have brought her home but I couldn't get it authorized to ship back to the states.

Yeah, and isn't the entire body of the Vette made of fiberglass?

Vette+Drift = No. I've seen cats drifting C5's, but I can't imagine the cost of repairs for that car if you hit a wall...

Thanks for all members and glad to write here by everyone.
In Japan, we are doing drift for every night on public road but we are arrested if cops know we do drifting on there.
By the way, you send me PM if you want to need to some parts and some Used cars.

Taku... can you tell me if people tune or modify their VQ30DET's often in Japan? Is it a popular motor over there?

I want to put one in my S13, but there is no aftermarket support for it in the U.S. Who, besides Jun and Top Secret, tunes VQ30DET's?

Where in Japan are you? I'm currently studying as an exchange student in Japan and am trying to find a scene to become involved with, while I'm here. I'm in Kanagawa.

Does he have a white WRX? If so I know him, even had a couple classes with him this past semester. Could be a different guy of course, very generic name.

^^^I don't think the Engrish is the problem... It's the illegal street drifting.

Keep it on the track, OP... there must be tons of them over there for you...

What the heck does that have to do with illegal street activities? He knows it's illegal, thus knowing he could get arrested and still boasts about it. Hmm, let's see there must be a reason they could get arrested ... uh ... oh yeah, maybe putting innocent people at risk of injury or death. Reread what I quoted. I don't condone idiotic street driving/racing ... there's places for that. I've had two friends killed because of crap like this. Take it easy on him? No. Educate? Yes.
