Hello all I am new here from Toronto. Im in the market for a S13 hatchback and I have about 2K to spend. Just wondering if 2K would be enough for a decent one that runs with a decent frame. Planning to do a SR20 swap down the road so just wanna know what I should be lookin for or avoiding and how much you guys dropped on yours. Thanks

Also I dont know if I posted this in the wrong place but if I did please slap me in the right direction

No Problem Getting On Here For 2k.

But In Canada Land...Not To Sure :/

Just Sure To Check For Rust, So It Won't Disintegrate Before You On The Ride Home.

I own a 240 convertible, which I picked up for 3100 with the stock KA motor. For the same price or a little more (around 4k), you could likely get an S13 with an SR already swapped. This would save you money down the road, since the cost of the swap is not cheap. My swap so far has cost me about 8k, but that includes a T3/T4 Turbonetics turbo, and some other goodies

Hope this helps.

I got my s13 coupe with no motor and in decent shape for $700.As for the sr20det, red top motor, I spent $1650 for a 90% completeswap. I had to get the little things to complete my set up.

Thanks guys thats helpful. A couple more questions, as far as I know its possible to swap the blacktop SR20 into the S13. If im not wrong how different is the swap from the redtop in terms of modification and price. Also does the S13 have any particularly problematic areas that I should be checking for rust when I purchase one. Thanks again!

Search.

Check frame rails and under body for rust, as well as the wheel wells and strut towers.

I would type everything different between the sr's but im very lazy, just search. oh and welcome and good luck on finding a car.

no you wont find a decent 240 for $2000 in Toronto, or Canada for that matter, unless you get lucky. Sorry to break it to ya.

You can find a decent one for 2K, I'm sure. Just might not be that easy though. Always check for rust (which a lot will have to some degree) and don't jump on the first one you see.
