Hi I am new to the boards! I bought my black 97 240sx se on Thursday, August 29th. I absolutely LOVE this car. I also own a 96 ford probe gt which I am trying to sell, and with the leftover money I will have from that I would really like to do the sr20det and 5 speed swap!! I have a lot to learn about these cars so please go easy on me If anyone is from the Richmond, VA area and would like to meet up please let me know!!!!!

hey guys!! i met a guy the other day that said he could order me a sr20det and 5 speed for $1250 shipped. i don't know if i believe him or not but he sounded pretty sure of himself. He said something about sending my ecu to jim wolf so he can upgrade it. one other thing he said was that the engine comes with an intercooler and i thought you had to order that seperately for like $800-1000? is this guy for real??

I can guarantee he's not for real unless its a dead motor, missing a bunch of stuff, not the right motor, blah blah blah blah blah. Anything you can possibly imagine thats wrong will be wrong.

OR theres always the extremely, and I mean, extremely slim chance that he's taking ( based on average price ) a loss of 1250 dollars to sell it to you.

Drool, you should talk to Daunttless about getting an engine. His are the nicest, cleanest around. Good prices too because his are guarenteed 100% complete. Most companies only guarentee the engine, ecu, and transmission, not all the other little goodies that you get with Dauntless' engines plus look at all those posts he's made! he's like SUPAR NOWLEDGAEBEL MANMAnManman.

i dunno lightnigs are nice and all but i like being low to the ground , plus the towing capacity sucks , if im gonna have a pickup , it needs to be able to tow all my stuff .

If my car had an SR20DET in it (which it will, unless I buy a 350Z) I would trade it for a Lightning too. Then I would turn around and sell the Lightning and build an even better 240 or I could just get that 350Z.

Point being that the Lightning is a completely different type of vehicle, obviously. I bought my 240 to auto-x, roadrace and generally take corners faster than I should. Not gonna happen in a Lightning. Oh yeah, and I hope you like buying gas if you had one. Hell, my wife has an F-150 with a V6 and it likes gas. I can only imagine a blown V8.

At least Ford finally figured it out and put a blown V8 in a Mustang. The new Cobras are bad a**.

yes indeed the new cobras are bad a**!!! as for my probe gt, it is a nice car and i will miss it but the 240 is sooo much nicer and has much more potential!! please don't go making fun of probes i know there are some nasty ones around but mine is actually very nice, and if you ever go to probetalk.com (website temporarily down) you will see some sweet hooked up probes and the people over there are pretty cool. like i said, nice car and all but i was just ready to take a step up with the 240!
