Hello Fellow Nissan Owners:
I am new to this site and I am glad to be part of a well knowledgeable group of users. I have tried other sites but my biggest issue was I could never get any clear answers or maybe I was asking the wrong. Anyway I own the 2001 Nissan Sentra 1.8 liter QG18de. Great car I bought it brand new in 2001 left it for my family to take care when I joined the service returned in 2009 to find the car transformed into a ranch car. Here were the problems, blown struts, busted radiator, dead dash lights, worn spark plugs, and 180,000 miles on the odometer. Since then I have replaced every part mentioned and now the car runs like a champ.
The one thing that puzzles me is trying to install a tachometer, I have the sunpro super tach 2. I spoke with a sunpro technician which he stated that I did not need a tach adaptor for my year model (2001 Sentra, XE) and just to splice the tach wire to the signal wire (blue/orange stripe wire) and I'll have a working tach, but that did not work. I also tried splicing to the ECu or ECM but that did not work either. Has anyone had any luck with installing a tach in this model? I have heard from other sentra owners that you would need a tach adaptor but I have also heard that you don't need a tach adaptor.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help I hope I can finally get this thing to work.
