Car: 2010 G37 Journey sedan

Post

Hello to all. I just joined the forum. I own a 2010 g37 jouney sedan. This is my 3rd G and Infiniti. I've owned a 2005 g35 sedan and a 2008 g37s coupe. (I know, I'm a dolt for getting rid of the coupe. but not practical for a family and all that) I love the G. I've had very very minimal problems with any of them. I think its a great car with one of the best mainsteam engines currently in production. So I'm a customer for life unless Nissan and or Infiniti does something stupid.

That said, I have a couple questions. And I apologize in advance if this is in a faq somewhere, but I did a little searching and coulnt find it. I'm trying to find some information on the music box location, and how the wiring is run. Is it mounted somewhere in the trunk?

The back story is that the car was damaged by hail a month ago. I've had it in the shop being repaired. The only relevance to the inside of the car was that the back window was shattered. I got the car back, but now the music box is acting funny. One time it tells me files are unreadable the next it plays. A couple times the display takes a bit to come up when the car is started. I have also always used my iphone through the usb. Now, it recognizes the ipod, appears to play, but I get no audio. So I'm curious if it's possible that something got damaged under the rear deck such as the music box, and if the usb connecter connects there in some way.I do not have the nav system. All the other audio works, and again, the only thing I know for sure it that the sub in the back got wet. Any help is appreciated. Diagrams or information specific to the way the audio and cabling is run is greatly appreciated.

Well you have a point. It was more just because I'm the curious sort and was interested in the info. Interestingly enough, the music box was only acting up when I would try to read the iphone. It works fine otherwise. So for grins, I plugged my old ipod in and it worked. So that told me it wasn't the car. So I reset the audio settings on my iphone and powered it down and back up and presto.. it works again. Still very odd but as long as it works I wont complain. I will say that the ipod connector has always been a little goofy. And reading forums I see that it's not just me. I'm just glad I dont have to create blank files and such to get the streaming to work as some have indicated. =)

The only thing in the trunk is the bose amp if you have it. It's under the rear deck next to the factory "sub". As for the Ipod acting weird, it depends on the version of Ipod you have. Gen 3 and 4 work well...newer ones do not.

If you want more info on wiring, check out the FAQ (link in my sig)
