WHOA! That's a huge exhaust. 4.5in is WAY too big for your car, unless you have lots of spooling going on (and thus a ton of air coming out). I'm pretty sure that's glasspack too... most people use Apexi N1 or N1 dual (I favour the dual for looks) on their 240s. If you're only here to put a huge exhaust, chrome, spoiler(s), body kit, neons, etc on your car, you're probably in the wrong place. The vast majority of people on this board are for performance, not rice. Maybe I'm wrong, if so, disregard.

No, The N1 is a 3in the Megan Racing is a 3 in (with a 4.5 inch tip)

A 3in is too big.

Go with a 2.5 inch. (or 60-70 mm) a 3 inch tip would work. (it will be very loud)

Will disregard, going for speed and looks but trying to avoid getting ricey!! Like I said, I am new to all of this and looking to be led in the right direction. I had looked at the Apexi N1 and did like the look. It's nice but not overkill like some of the stuff I see around here. So I am going to assume that you would recommend the Apexi?

Apexi is what I would have done if I'd gone 240 and hadn't felt custom. I believe Greddy makes one too, along with a ton of other companies, but those are the main 2. You'll start an argument if you ask which is best, just look them both up and go for what you like the numbers/look of. Whew! 4.5 was way too big... man... 2.5 would be max for an NA engine, and min for a turbo eng. with 3.0 being the best overall for turbo (from what I've read). Good luck with your car, head to the 240SX section, most of the people on the board hang there, cause most own 240s.

First of all. I do not know where you read that a 2.5 is the max for NA. The size of the exhaust depends on a number of factors. Your level of tune (full racing built, etc. warrants bigger exhaust than daily driver) Engine displacement. Engine Revline. Where you want power. Noise Level.

I believe his car is fairly stock. he probaly wants to keep the noise relatively low, even though any performance exhaust will be loud. (and avoid unwanted attention)

I would say 2.5 inch with a resonator and a tip is perfect (unless munky has other plans)

Too bad they don't make a Tanabe exhaust for the S13. Munky look for something similar to that (in the second link under the picture)

The 2.5 is for 2.0ish-2.5ish litres and smaller, I don't know enough about those massive 5.0s to say anything on those. Its just a basic rule I have gathered from magazines and boards and my brother, the guy who got me into cars and taught me a lot of the basics. I get the stock feeling too, I just included the turbo info (also based on those smaller engines) to further his knowledge.

3" is fine on an NA car, its kinda loud but it dosnt sound ricey.. i love the N1 and would recomend it for NA and turbo apps... nice thing is if u get the N1 and u have an NA car, if you deside to go turbo you dont have to go out and buy an all new exhaust..

What exactly do you mean by an "NA car"?

naturally aspirated

it means that your car has no turbo or supercharger or posssibly no nitrous oxide.

That explains a lot, I can't seem to decide between the Apexi N1 and the HKS though, what a dilema!!

Nitrous is NOT FI... It is an oxidizer and creates more oxygen to burn when it is broken down, but it is not a means of actually forcing oxygen into the engine.

So I'm assuming you did some research? Right on if so, I really appreciate everyones help. All of my friends around here can do anything imaginable to a honda, but noone wants to stand out with a different car, like a Nissan!! I am the only one around here and can't find help, noone knows $h!t about Nissans here!!

i was just speculating on the power :P

Search on the boards, the Apexi N1 seems more popular, but I personally would go with the HKS Sport dual.

I foundd that NOPI has some more.

I'd go for a 60-65mm pipe size, up to an 80 or maybe 85 would be fine

a TON of people with 240's on this board have the HKS Hiper exhaust. I have it, and woudn't trade it for anything. It is the perfect size piping for an NA car, not too loud at all, sounds heavenly, and looks evil. I say go for the Hiper.

Ok I just discovered this. The HKS Hiper comes in two sizes. You would want the 65 mm

The one I was talking about is the HKS Sport exhaust. Its Cheaper, Same size The Hiper is about 80 bucks more, but probaly better sounding and higher quality ?

I would either get the HKS sport or the GREDDY SP (sport) if you want to spend less money, or the Hiper/N1 single 75mm.
