Hello to all..
I am new to this site, Quick intro... My name is Johny (23yrs) I drive a 05 nissan altima. Somewhat of an automotive background. I graduated UTI last december and been working at a local Firestone since then.
Reason for comming here: I was forward to this site by a friend(subscribed to nico) he has had some luck in the past with good advice with solving issues with his vehicles.
My Brothers smog is due next month he drives an 01 Nissan Sentra Se 2.0 no mods. He currently has a check engine that i need help with dianosing. I believe the code was p0395 I will scan for the code for you guys tomorrow if you guys can help me out. Please let me know if i am posting in the correct link or direct me to where i can post for help.

Well the factory service manual for that vehicle is available through my signature. It should tell you what that code means, and how to fix it

-papasmurf I looked through your sig but wasnt quite sure to look stuff up..sorry I will spend more time searching ontheir so anyway here is an update
the codes are
(1) P0325- Knock sensor BI problem
(2) P0455- EVAP system large leak.. I take it a loose gas cap is the problem here
(3) P1448- Vent control valve stays open.. hmmm maybe this is the casue a large evap leak... idk so i went ahead and cleared the codes Ill see which ones come back
if anyone has had a history with some of the codes please let me know I really want to fix this car... the tags are going to expire and we need to smog it next month

Ignore the knock sensor issue for now.
Code 3 will set the large leak. Look for the solenoid on the evap canister under your car (should be about 3-4" tall, have a plug going to it), I bet when you touch it that it is warm/hot. Replace that part. Be careful with the bolts, if they are rusted, spray them with PB blaster and let sit over night. They like to crack the canister on their way out if they are rusted up.
