Hi Experts i just recently purchased a 99 q45t and i love it but i know it has some problems.i have determined that one of the major issues is called a stumbled by reading up here. but now i would like to know #1 why i have a bit of light blue smoke coming from the exhaust? #2 it goes away but i sitck my nose under the hood and everything smells normal i go to the back to where the exhaust again no major smells but when i get inside the car it smells like chemically is the best way i could describe it, like if u had a car in a closed garage for 3 or 4 hrs then u stepped inside and took a whif.... i took a chance on purchasing this vehicle cause i have always loved it....it has 143k on the odometer....will i be able to get her runnin tip top or did i just loose my money......????????

welcome to NICO, i moved this to the Q45 forum...

Blue smoke from the exhaust usually means its burning oil, so your rings or valve stem seals are shot.. If the car still runs decent, dont worry about it, the fix is to rebuild the engine...

Well She still stumblin i just ordered the coils (extensively cheaper than what they where talking on the forum floor), Now i know nothing about cars so when u say rebuild the engine is that a huge costly labor job if so about how much?

yeah its definitely not going to be worth it.. A little blue smoke doesnt really hurt anything, however at 140k or so things must be pretty tired if its already smoking.. usually you can go 250k on most nissan engines before they start smoking or using oil...

Engine replacement is less expensive than rebuild due to labor and parts cost. Thanks to companies that import used Japanese junkyard engines [wrecks or just the 6-8 year turn over] better oil quality and change frequency in Japan.

The other problem is even finding someone who has the tools and ability to even come close to Japanese factory. Tolerances are 2-10 tighter than US designs.
