Hey all,

I've picked a 2007 M35x with 28K miles on it about a month ago, and love every minute I get to spend in it. About a week ago I installed an aero body kit on it, and it looks better than ever.I have a question though. I saw somewhere on the site a picture of M45 I think with chrome side moldings (on doors) installed. I found them for sale on eBay from japan, but was wondering how easy is it to replace the original moldings? How do you remove the original moldings? Is it a job for a body shop or can be done by yourself?

Thanks in advance!

The ones you looked at are simply glue on/ 3m tape in the back. Peal out the protective cover on the back, and push against the door. Be careful which ones you buy, some bend very easily. I got a set, they did not fit well, and then when I was trying to pull them out, i cut my finger tips pretty badly. Hopefully yours fit no problem...

Hmmm.... well the ones I saw on eBay are selling for $175 for a set of 4. A bit steep for a glue on type. Looks like these maybe actually be a replacement parts. Take a look, here is the link:

I know it's about personal preference but...people have spent good money to color match side moldings.

In my opinion they look GREAT the way they are.

I would grab a rear spoiler first.

Really? I thought all stock cars come with side moldings color matched. Are there models/colors where moldings come in chrome from factory?

I installed aero kit a week ago (pictures are before it was done) so I got the rear spoiler already....

Saabs have black side moldings, but the high end aero's add body color. Lots of older American iron had chrome. To me, it breaks the car in half horizontally, ruining the overall profile by eliminating the "one piece" look. Plus, that stuff will dent and scratch and look like crap after a few parking lot encounters.

It's your car and your taste, so go with what you like -- but keep in mind the potential pitfalls when you do. Good luck!
