my j30 just stopped running. It wont even try to turn over. All I get is every light on the dash lighting up. It had been making a loud ticking sound for a few days and I was told it was the lifters but would that shut my car down?

When was the last time the timing belt was changed?

When was the last oil change?

What color was the oil?

Is the battery and alternator good?

It's not sounding good for your J. Loud lifter noise is usually a sign of lack of oil or low oil pressure. I agree with Paul and am curious about your maintenance history. From your initial description it sounds bad, but that is just from the description of the noise.
