hate to be the guy to tell ya... but there are at least 2 east coast civics with sr20det... and there are like 20 on the east coast with 4g63T. and there are FWD sr's - not that it matters but - its more than possible... its been done. On the west coast im sure these swaps are more popular...

im still coming to grips with this. i really could see an all star cast from crouching tiger hidden dragon doing this drifting. lol. but on a serious note, this really sux to hear. I hate attention and this will be the ultimate ticket to the rice crew venturing over to our neck of the woods. as others said, u may want to start stockpiling jdm things, engines, chassis, etc cuz when the first preview hits the screens, its either we start asking for raises from our bosses or we watch everything become overpriced. maybe it will only make it to dvd and video?

I'm not all to sure how this will turn out. I think we will see more 240s, but riced out hondas will still rule. So im not all that worried, we've got a year to stay in our glory in our rare JDM tyte cars I'll still go see it. From the article it seems like they are missing the concept to drifting.

Ok generally the first 2 movies were alright, I have them on DVD and they make for fun entertainment. This 3rd one is, in my opinion, going to do 1 of 2 things. Either A: A whole new audience will watch it and the sport of drifting will grow or B: The same ppl that ran out and bought civics and were afraid the welds on their floor board would crack, will go out and snap up 240s and buy up the available stock of SR,CA,RB, etc engines. The positive side will be for those who already have 240s, all those wonderful KAs will be tossed aside and ripe for KA-T projects.

two points...

First...Why would you worry about what other people think about your car... If you like it, thats all that matters. So what if some movie makes all the stupid kiddies wanting the same car as you, unless you act like them or mod your car like them, you have nothing to worry about.

Second...I think these movie have a Darwin-esque way of getting rid of stupid drivers. Any kid that would buy some crappy old car, and go out to the mountains/canyons and try to purposely drift the thing, deserves to crash it and hopefully loose their money / car / license.

After they destory the car mom + dad bought them, they won't be a problem anymore.
