Yes phase2 has been a sponsor for a while. But, I doubt they will be cutting any deals on gauges, they already have really competative pricing.

You guys need to realize that installing an s15 diff into an s14 or s15 pumpkin in EXACTLY like swapping a stock open for a stock open. The ONLY difference is the ring gear bolt size issue. Everything else is by the book.

I don't know anybody who has had to reset the backlash when swapping an s15 helical diff. Because it's oem, it is the exact same dimensions as the open diff. If you swap into any pumpkin that was previously working well, and previously had good backlash specs, if you install it like you removed the old diff, everything should come out the same.

Read the fsm if you want to know how to set backlash, but if you don't touch the pinion gear when swapping, you won't have backlash issues. Just make sure to check gear mesh with indicator dye before and after swapping. All of this is explained in ANY s chassis FSM.

It's not as hard as it sounds guys. I was gonna do a writeup myself, but I soon learned that the FSM is the only writeup you need.

Dude, they are all over ebay. Buy from anybody on there who has decent feedback and you are good to go.

I just wanted him to work for the hell of it. I'm no guru but I know enough to handle OEM LSD swaps and have yet to need to set backlash. Never installed a clutch-type though...

When you say oem lsd swap, do you mean swapping pumpkins? Sure, everybody knows how to do that.

Helical swap requires swapping the differential itself, not just putting a different housing in the car. Like I said though, you won't NEED to set backlash if you use the same ring and pinion that were originally in the pumpkin, as long as you are careful with the dissassembly and reassembly, and make sure not to mess with the pinion gear at all.

By OEM I mean Nissan viscous and helical. Helical was a friend's though, but driving it afterwards definitely sold me on them.

Like I said, any of those guys who have lots of postive feedback, you can trust. Don't worry about it.

If you are so worried about it, buy from the guy who sells the 600 dollar ones. He has been on there the longest. The price is a ripoff though.

Me personally, I bought from somebody else. Price was 350 shipped from japan.

naed, I thought I got a good deal, but you beat me. I paid $375 shipped from Japan. Got it from this guy.

http://stores.ebay.com/JapanDy...ution

I paid $75 for s&h via Ship. He shipped out on 10/25/2006 and I received it on 12/5/2006. I forgot all about it, and one day it finally showed up.

Here's the picture. One shaft was slightly longer than the other, so I know I got right ones. Anyway, please let me know if there's anything wrong with it. This is first time I've seen s15 Helical Diff in person. I've never worked on diff before, so it'll be interesting when I install it myself. I'll need some help from you guys for sure.

Looks perfect. That has everything you need with the exception of ring gear bolt sleeves or 13-12 ring gear bolts.

Haha ****ing idiots mangled the output shaft on your's too? LOL people need to learn not to use a damn crowbar to take those out.

I would go ahead and put the outputs into the diff partially(not enough for the snap rings to engage) and spin the internals to make sure that it is a good working condition diff.

Oh!!! That's what happened? I thought they got damaged during shipping. He put them in a small 'NISMO' diff box with only one layer of bubble wrap. I've straighten them out with a plier already.

That's the first thing I did when I opened a box. Both side worked well and internal looked perfect.

I just got mine as well (with the same crowbar damage on the output shafts wtf). Paid $340 shipped (and that's with $144 for 7-10 day shipping :D ).

Sorry to respond to such an old thread. I'll be getting mine installed here shortly.

Umm, if you're looking for a drift diff, DO NOT GET THIS DIFFERENTIAL. With enough power and persuasion, you can get the car sideways, but it's really difficult to keep it sideways. The helical is much better suited to grip applications.

And e1_griegoAt $340 shipped, you got yourself a hell of a deal. I paid $600 for mine.

Yup!!! I couldn't believe it either!! With output shafts and everything! I got *real* lucky. Go ebay!

So, question is, do I *really* need the 12-13mm spacers? I've seen lots of install writeups with people just bolting the ring gear on and calling it? Will this cause problems down the line??

I installed mine without the special 12-13mm bolts. I do get a weird sound when I engage 1st gear, but it may be my clutch. It maybe the ring-gear slipping. Who knows? You can also make your own 1mm "sleeves" or get the Nismo bolts. Here's a thread exactly about it--> zerothread?id=212966

I'm about to take my car apart and plan on replacing every other of the stock 12mm bolts with the Nismo bolts. Since I don't want to buy 10 bolts at $8/each.

Where did you find the nismo bolts? Does someone have them in stock?

Alex

edit: besides the link at $7.41/ea

I haven't ordered mine yet. My car will be out of commission for probably 2-3 weeks so I haven't been too eager to order them. Chances are I am going to order them through my local Nissan dealership which stocks a lot of Nismo and SR20 parts.

Hm, ok. Well thanks for the help. I'll try my local Nissan dealer and see what they can do for me.
