So I'm parked briefly in a "fire zone" which is the size of a parking space and indeed used to be a parking space when Preferred Towing shows up (Noblesville/Tipton, Indiana) to tow my 240. I was on my way out anyway to move it as it was temporarily parked. The douchebag tow guy says "It's too late" and I told him that he would have to tow it with me in it. He managed to get a hook on the underside and went to pull it up on the flatbed.

He says "Your car will always lose". I'm thinking "Oh yeah beotch?" So I pull forward onto the bed, dislodging the hooks and back up, free. I managed to get stuck on the curb, but get free and drive down to a parking spot and park.

Dumbass Billybob tow truck driver is pissed and calls the local PD. They show up, ask me what happened, get my ID and send billybobboogereater packing. The cops do nothing to me, as I didn't assault the guy or try and hit him with my car, as much as I would have liked to.

My only problem now is that I have a blown tie rod end and possibly some undercarriage damage. I won't know the extent until I am able to inspect it, but I don't think it's bad. It beats the hell out of having to put up with that damned towing company and pay their fees. I HATE towing companies and the position they put people in when they get towed. Damned rotten basturds.

This is one night when they go home empty-handed, don't get their tow fee, storage, etc. paid in CASH (ie., not taxable income). Only downside now is that I have a tie rod end to replace, but those are cheap. A hell of a lot cheaper than that tow bill, I guarantee it.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about towing companies.

I think I'll call them up when I get time and ask them how it feels to go home empty handed. Hehe. :D

Thank you, thank you very much.

*repo takes a curtsy*

BTW, I just callled to find out exactly how much the bill would have been had I been towed. $100 for the tow/impound and $20 per day storage, with one day automatically assessed. So, minimum of $120.

I haven't heckled them yet, but when I do, I'll holla...

good job repo, you pwn3d teh m4N!

last 4th of july i went to pick up my gf and i noticed her car was gone from the church where she always parked, which has a "you will get towed" sign. i said "where's your car??" thinking it was either towed or stolen ('96 integra in a high crime area, where at least one car gets broken into every week, but not often in the chuch parking lot, and that's why people park there).called the police station and the phone mesage said that since it was the 4th of july, it was closed (wtf??) so we drove down there and the only lady there didn't wanna help, until i made her feel guilty for not helping people on the 4th of july of all days. she told us the car had been towed (better than stolen i guess) so we went to the tow place but couldn't get the car back cause it was in her sister's name (who lives in sacramento, 2 hours away, and coudn't come for 2 days). so her sister finally came, and my gf had to pay for 3 days of storage at the tow place (about $300). towing companies suck.

i parked my truck at the church for 3 months and got 3 warnings but never got towed. my gf parked her car there for 2 months and got towed without any warnings. go figure.

Way to go repo!! I've seen tow companies do some downright criminal things, I'm glad you managed to get out of that one.

After my little wreck, the cops and the towman arrived. The tow man started packing the car on his trailer while I explained to the police what happened. After I was finished with the police, they left, and my dad arrived. The towman came and said it would be $200 dollars to take it to the shop. After arguing for awhile, my dad gave in and paid the money. On the way home, he gave me a lecture advising me not to mess with the towing people, because they're vicious killers....
