I got my R33 RB25DET on the way to me.

Here's some pictures.

It's coming with a complete uncut harness, ecu, mounts, etc.

(Hopefully wee-todd lets me link them like this. If not, I'll have them up another way. Just let me know if they don't work.)

Anyways, the engine looks a little dusty, but most JDM engines are because they've had a long journey and usually some sitting time.

What do you guys think? I payed 4000$ shipped for it, I know that's alot for an RB25DET, even without a clip. It does have some pretty low miles however. I don't mind sourcing some other little parts that would come in a clip either, so I just decided to buy the swap. But it looks like the engine harness is all there.

Any input is appreciated. Don't flame my price I paid for it please.. I have the funds for it unlike most other people. It's already here in the US also.. so I don't have to worry about having a hard time finding a RB25DET clip.

Thanks.

Don't be fooled by the low mileage BS. I've already gotten TWO rb25det's with internal problems. One had low compression the other has some sort of knocking sound coming from the bottom end.

Yeah that is waaaayyy too much for a motorset.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your RB's. And trust me, I am not fooled by the mileage stuff... I have bought JDM engines before, I know how it works. And MOST of them DO have low mileage.

BTW. There are suppliers out there who actually document the mileage though before pulling and shipping engines. Did you stop to think maybe I have that? And yes, I know, that is still not 100% proof.

The point I tried to make is buying a low mileage engine does not guarantee you a good engine. Both my engines were low mileage.Paying more than normal for a lower mileage engine doesn't make sense. You don't know who had it, you don't know how they drove it, you don't even know if they ever changed the oil.Understand my point?

I think most people who buy JDM engines already understand that point. And like I said, I know how it works, and I can explain the risks to you just like you've explained them to me. Now that you've gotten the point off your chest, maybe you can understand why I payed more. (As I mentioned earlier)

It's here in the US.I don't have money issues.I don't want to waste time waiting (and searching) for a clip. Most of the main parts are included with it.

If you really want to have a discussion about the whole JDM engine risks, please PM me. I probably won't reply though, because I don't have a whole lot to say to you. You seem to understand on your own.

Anyways, I just wanted to show people the pictures and I decided to mention the price I paid because I know someone would have asked me.

Thanks.

now ive never seen a rb25 transmission (RWD) outside of the car, but im 99.9% sure it dosent have that side transfer box for the front axles. i KNOW what a AWD transmission looks like, and that looks identical.

did you get this motor off ebay? someone was trying to sell a rb25 with AWD transmission for a long time.

here is another pic (of a getrag 6 speed GTR transmission)

Here's an RB25DET gearbox.

I had no clue untill I started looking into it more. I think this GTSt swap came from the AWD stagea wagon..

Here's more pictures:

Wow. Yah it was that guy on ebay and I had exchanged about 40 emails with him about this and talked to him over the phone. He has good feedback and he's verified with paypal and ebay. It's obvious now. He hasn't sent it out yet. I'll be calling him. :furious:

Yah me too. If this guy ships it out tomarrow before he hears from me, what do you think I should do? Not accept it? That pisses me off.

It's probably a fuc***g automatic too.

This picture has the trans fluid dipstick coming up on the rt side of the trans next to the vent tube. I would have to say that this trans attached to the motor is an automatic. They may be including the AWD manual so you can "swap" to manual.

Good luck!!Jon

Looks like he is working it out with me this morning. I'll keep you guys updated.

He has another RB25DET with an automatic transmission, and supposedly he also has a RWD only RB25DET transmission. So.. he is going to unbolt the automatic transmission and send me the whole engine with a 5 speed ecu.

Then later on, he is going to send me a RB25DET RWD only transmission. He needs to locate one first he says. And I'll get pictures of everything.

He seems to be complying really well and is totally nice over the phone. He didn't deny that the one pictured is a AWD automatic.

Its AWD SET-up eather put together or from the Stegia. But looks like some one took the RWD set and replaced it with the AWD. You will have to convert it back to use it, SORRY...

First of all, F you. I knew it wasn't an RB25 transmission and I have been talking to him about it before grumpy even posted. You come here and act as if you are some smart guy.. when in reality, I'll bet you wouldn't even have noticed at first either. So really, go to hell. I made a mistake. I admit, I'm not familiar with Skyline engines/clips/transmission's etc. And I'd bet you aren't either tuff guy.

The guy seems to be very nice about this stuff. I will be getting an RB25DET 5 speed transmission for it though if I decide to keep it, we have discussed that.

He knows I will not accept the AWD ****. However I told him I might take the engine assembly without the AWD transmission and convert it to RWD. He will supply me with an RB25DET 5 speed transmission and ecu for it if I decide to do that.

Otherwise, he also has an RB25DET RWD engine, but it is an automatic. He says I could also take that with a 5 speed ecu, and he will supply me with the 5 speed RB25DET transmission. I'll make a decision when he sends me pictures.. and I'll post them up here.

Please don't post if you're going to give me ****. I'll keep this updated and let people know what is going on.

As of right now we are working it out and nothing will be sent to me untill he gives me pictures of everything I am buying. If worse comes to worse, I will get my money back.

I would be careful of the swap. Karmi is right what about the oil pan and pick-up, and what else has been modified???????????????

It hasn't been modified, it's from the AWD stagea. It was an automatic.

I will be very carefull though. Like I said, if it gets too awkward or something gets fishy... I'll just get my money back and do an SR or turbo KA. Maybe even stick with Honda.

Right now though, the guy seems very cool. Unlike some of the other scammers/hicks on ebay. If I do get this engine though I will convert it to RWD... but I think I'll be getting another one. Regarless, I'll get my money back if I decide to go against it.
