Car: 92 hatch soon with a vh45 heartbeat

Post

I've been working on my damn Z for about a year. I have about 3-4 threads asking questions about this damn car. Now heres where I'm at. The car will run perfect with the MAF un plugged. While its running I plug in the Maf and the car immediately dies. Maf right, wrong. Put a new one on and didn't matter. Also the check engine light does not come on with or without the MAF plugged in or out. I double checked the ecu which also has a warning light on it. Put the ecu in diagnostic mode and it didn't show any codes, even with the MAF unplugged. What the hell is going on with this damn car. Is there some fuse or relay for the MAF or something.

I bought this car from a friend who wrecked the car and he was switching stuff to his Twin Turbo. I don't know if he switched ecu's but heres the number on the one in my car along with the cars spec.'s

ecu#[A18 A23 M12] [9421] with the #25 in big letters above these #'s

Car 1990 300zx N/A automatic with almost no exhaust. If I can't figure this out I might sell the car mildly non-running so please help again.

ECU's are pretty much interchangeable with Z cars TT ECU's work fine with N/A's and vise versa the trick comes down to whether it was an auto or a manual and I dont remeber hwo that stuff goes. As far as the MAFS it should run without it at all. The ECU should also always show a code what number did the light flash out? If it didnt have a flashing light you either werent in diagnostic mode or something is very wrong.

the twin turbo is a five speed and I had it in diagnose mode and regular with no warning lights on the ecu or the dash? Short in the MAF wiring?

You should have gotten a code 55. Crash course in testing codes cause if you arent getting any flashing lights you arent checking the codes. Per the factory service manual (which you need to buy) Turn the car to the on position (do not start) Turn the the diagnostic mode selector (with a screwdriver) full clockwise wait at least two seconds then turn it fully counterclockwise. After that is done the Light will start flashing count the long flashes that will be your first number then it will go to fast flashes that will be your second number. Then post back what number you get.
